The eight lines, and which ones carry a figure

Half of this shelf is dosed and half is not. That is not unusual in UK cannabis confectionery, but it is unusual to say it out loud on the page rather than leave it in the small print of a product panel.

The dosed half is straightforward and unusually consistent. Euphoria sells 12 cookies in a pot totalling 120mg, which is 10mg each, and describes them as cereal biscuits made with Cannabis Sativa seed, whole wheat and rye flour. Multitrance sells 17g cream cookies at 10mg each, in chocolate cream and hazelnut cream. Four dosed lines, four times the same 10mg figure.

The flavour-led half is named for cannabis rather than measured with it. Euphoria's Cannabis Airlines cookies use hemp protein for texture. Multitrance's Space Cookie is made with hemp seed oil. The Cookie Bites are branded around cannabis with no hemp ingredient called out at all. None of these publishes a cannabinoid figure, and none is trying to: they are biscuits, sold as biscuits.

One thing to raise because we would rather you heard it from us. Euphoria appears on this shelf twice, as CBD Cookies 120mg and as Cannabis Cookies 120mg, with the same pot of 12, the same 10mg a cookie and the same four flavour names. We believe these are one product under two naming conventions from the distributor, and we are asking. Until that is confirmed, read them as interchangeable rather than as two different biscuits.

Ten milligrams, against a UK norm of twenty-five

Here is the comparison this category never makes, and it does not flatter us.

The two most substantial pages ranking for this search both sell a 25mg cookie weighing 60g. That is the mainstream UK CBD cookie: a big, soft-baked, protein-enriched biscuit with two and a half times the cannabidiol of anything on our shelf.

Our dosed lines are 10mg. The Multitrance cream cookies weigh 17g, so they are roughly a quarter the size of that 60g benchmark as well as being lighter on cannabidiol. The Euphoria pot cookies are cereal biscuits rather than bakery cookies, closer to a digestive than to a cookie you would buy warm.

Neither approach is wrong, and the smaller format has a genuine argument behind it. Ten milligrams in a 17g biscuit is a portion you can have without it being a meal, and it happens to sit exactly on the Food Standards Agency's current daily advice, which the next section covers. A 60g cookie at 25mg is a different proposition entirely: more biscuit, more of everything, and two and a half times the daily advice in one sitting.

What we will not do is imply our cookies are stronger than they are. If you want a larger dose in a single item, the gummies aisle runs to far higher figures per piece and the oil aisle lets you measure whatever you like.

The FSA figure most of this category still gets wrong

The Food Standards Agency advises healthy adults to keep CBD from food supplements to no more than 10mg a day. That advice was announced in October 2023, adopting the recommendation of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, and it replaced a much higher figure.

The higher figure was 70mg a day. It is superseded, and it has been for well over two years. The page currently ranking second for this search still cites it as the FSA maximum, on a live commercial page from one of the larger UK CBD brands.

This matters more on a cookie page than almost anywhere else, because the arithmetic is so simple. One 10mg cookie from this shelf is the whole of the current daily advice. A single 25mg cookie is two and a half times it. Under the old 70mg figure a reader could have talked themselves into three of the larger cookies without apparently exceeding anything.

To be clear about what the advice is and is not: it is precautionary consumer guidance from the FSA rather than a legal limit, and the FSA has said it will not force the change onto products already on its public list. It is not an instruction from us, and nothing on this page tells you what to take. But if a shop is going to quote a number at you, it ought to be the current one.

The separate legal test is the one that governs whether a product may be sold at all: no more than 1mg of controlled cannabinoids in the whole container. Per container, not per cookie and not as a percentage. A pot of 12 gets the same 1mg allowance as a single biscuit. Not one of the four pages we examined for this shelf states that test, and two of them give a THC percentage instead, which measures a different thing entirely.

What is actually in the Space Cookie

The flavour-led lines are the ones nobody documents, so here is the full panel for the biggest of them. Multitrance publishes it and no UK retailer reproduces it.

The Space Cookie is 100g, which makes it the largest single item on this shelf by some distance. Ingredients: sugar, spelt flour, butter, vegetable fat from palm and coconut, egg, water, rapeseed oil, cocoa powder on the chocolate version, soy flour, raising agents E450 and E500, hydrogenated vegetable fat from palm kernel, wheat starch, inverted sugar syrup, salt, hemp seed oil, stabiliser E170, aroma, emulsifier E471, an enzyme derived from wheat, colouring E160a, and added vitamin A and vitamin D3.

Three observations worth making. The hemp content is hemp seed oil, well down the list, which is consistent with there being no cannabinoid figure on the pack. The added vitamins are unusual in a biscuit and are a fortification choice rather than anything to do with hemp. And the fat is largely hydrogenated palm kernel, which is what gives this style of cookie its shelf life.

For allergens, that panel means wheat and spelt, milk from the butter, egg, and soy. Four of the fourteen declarable allergen groups in one biscuit. The Multitrance hazelnut cream cookie adds nuts. The Euphoria pot cookies are made with whole wheat and rye flour, so gluten again.

There is nothing gluten free and nothing dairy free on this shelf. If either matters to you, this is the wrong aisle and the gummies and oil aisles are the better place to look. We would rather write that sentence than have you check eight product pages to reach the same conclusion.

A note on the words space cookie

Search that phrase and the results fill up with sellers of THC edibles, some of them shipping to the UK. The term has meant a cannabis brownie or cookie with a psychoactive dose in it for about fifty years, and that is still what most people mean by it.

The Multitrance product called a Space Cookie is not that. The manufacturer states it is free of THC, our catalogue records it with no cannabinoid figure at all, and it holds hemp seed oil rather than any extract. It is a 100g biscuit with a name borrowed from somewhere else.

We are spelling this out because the name does real work in a search result and because nobody else selling it will. If you are looking for a psychoactive edible, nothing on this website is one, and products claiming otherwise are not legal to sell here.

Choosing between them

Four questions, and the first one settles most of it.

Do you want a stated amount? Then it is one of the four dosed lines, and since they are all 10mg the choice comes down to format. The Euphoria pot of 12 is the better first purchase because it is a pot rather than a case of 24. The Multitrance cream cookies come in a box of 24 single biscuits, which is a counter format.

Or do you want a cannabis-flavoured biscuit? Then the Space Cookie at 100g is the substantial one, the Cannabis Airlines six pack is the closest thing here to an ordinary bakery cookie, and the Cookie Bites are the small, snackable end.

How long will it take? Longer than anything else we sell. A biscuit is chewed, swallowed and digested, so this is the slow end of the shop, and our edibles aisle explains why the fat in a baked good matters to that.

The honest cautions, in order. There is no gluten free or dairy free option here at all. Four of the eight lines contain no measurable cannabinoid and are sold as confectionery. The dosed ones are 10mg, which is modest against the rest of this market and against our own gummies. And if what you actually want is a precise, adjustable amount, a biscuit is close to the worst format for it and CBD oil is close to the best.
