Who Hempthy are and what they make

Hempthy trades as Liquid Creations Ltd, a Northern Ireland registered company manufacturing from a business park in Londonderry, with a Manchester address used for correspondence. Several summaries of this brand place it in Manchester, which is where the contact address is rather than where the product is made.

Their positioning is manufacturing rather than lifestyle. The company describes itself as a CBD manufacturer, and its own site leads on Good Manufacturing Practice certification, ISO 9001 cleanrooms and third-party lab testing rather than on strain names or artwork. That is a different pitch from most of the brands here, and it is the right one for what they sell, because a sweet with a printed cannabinoid figure lives or dies on whether the figure is accurate.

The extract is cannabidiol isolate, refined to the point where the other plant compounds are stripped out, and the brand states it is sourced from American growers at 99.9 per cent purity. Isolate is why every Hempthy line we stock is described as THC free: there is nothing else left in it to worry about. It is also why the flavour is candy rather than hemp, which some people want and some people do not.

One thing the brand's own range includes that ours does not: skincare, pet products, chocolate, supplements and smoking accessories. We carry the confectionery, the tea, the tablets and the vape liquid. That is a deliberate choice about what this shop is, not a gap in supply.

The strength ladder, and the arithmetic nobody publishes

Hempthy build the whole gummy range on a single unit: 20mg of cannabidiol in each sweet. Everything else is a count. The pack tells you this directly, and once you know it the entire range becomes readable.

So a 300mg pack is fifteen sweets. A 900mg pack is forty-five. A 1,000mg pack is fifty, which is exactly what the pouches say. A 1,200mg pack is sixty. The milligram number on the front is not a measure of how strong each sweet is, because each sweet is the same in every pack. It is a measure of how many you get.

That is the single most useful fact about this brand and not one page currently ranking for it states it plainly, which is why people reasonably assume a 1,200mg pack is stronger than a 300mg one. It is not. It is four times the quantity at identical strength.

The two exceptions sit outside the gummy range. The infused tea bags carry 160mg across the box, and the tablets are a 1,500mg pack of thirty, which works out at a different unit again. Read those two on their own terms.

A dosage figure other pages are still getting wrong

The longest page currently ranking for this brand tells readers that the regulator advises a healthy adult to take up to 70mg a day, and then helpfully converts that into how many sweets that would be. Both halves of that need correcting, and this is the most important paragraph on the page.

The body concerned is the Food Standards Agency, not the Food Safety Authority. And the Food Standards Agency revised its advice for healthy adults down from 70mg a day to 10mg a day in February 2023, on the basis of updated evidence. The 70mg figure has been superseded for over three years.

That matters because of the conversion. Ten milligrams a day is half of one Hempthy sweet, since each one holds 20mg. A page telling you the regulator sanctions seven times that, with the sweet count worked out for you, is not a small slip. We are not naming and shaming anyone, and the page in question is otherwise a decent piece of work. But if you have read that figure somewhere and taken it as official, it is worth knowing where it came from.

To be precise about what the guidance is and is not: it is advice from a regulator about intake from food supplements for healthy adults. It is not a dose, it is not a recommendation from us, and it is not a limit on what may lawfully be sold. Separately, ingestible cannabidiol in Great Britain requires authorisation under the Novel Foods regime, with validated products listed publicly by the Food Standards Agency. Being on that list is not the same as being finally approved, which is another distinction the ranking pages blur.

What Hempthy document, and what they do not

Hempthy state that their products are fully lab tested by a third party, that manufacturing is Good Manufacturing Practice certified, and that the cleanrooms hold ISO 9001. ISO 9001 is a quality-management standard for how a business runs its processes. It is a real certification and worth having, but it is not the same as ISO 17025, which is the accreditation standard for testing laboratories, so the two should not be read as interchangeable.

The site references a lab report link. We could not find a certificate of analysis attached to the product pages themselves, including on the flagship pick and mix line, which is where a buyer would look first.

The brand also describes itself as award winning, prominently, including a roundel on the packaging. No award, awarding body or year is named anywhere we could find. That is not evidence of anything untoward, and plenty of brands do it. It is simply weaker than a brand like Orange County, which lists its awards individually with the body and the date attached so you can check them.

So on documentation Hempthy sits mid-table. Ahead of the brands that publish nothing at all, behind the ones that put a batch certificate on the product page. Since all 20 lines here are isolate rather than full spectrum, the per-container question that dogs other brands is much less pressing for this one, which is a genuine advantage of the format.

How Hempthy compares with the other brands we stock

The useful comparison is not flavour, it is what each brand tells you and in what format.

Against Orange County, the split is spectrum and range. Orange County covers oil, gummies, e-liquid, vape pods and balms, publishes batch certificates, and runs broad spectrum, isolate and full spectrum. Hempthy covers confectionery almost exclusively and is isolate throughout. If you want oil, Hempthy has none. If you want a sweet with a clean, printed, isolate figure and no spectrum question attached, Hempthy is the more straightforward buy.

Against Cannapower, which is the other gummy specialist here, it is close. Cannapower runs 400mg to 1,200mg across gummies plus creams and solid extracts, and includes a full-spectrum line. Hempthy is narrower, all isolate, and covers formats Cannapower does not: mints, hard gums, tea and tablets.

Where Hempthy is strong, and where it is not

Strong: clarity. Nineteen of 20 lines carry a figure, the unit is consistent across the whole gummy range, and the packaging states the count, the strength and the food supplement designation on the front. After writing up brands where most of the catalogue tells you nothing, this is a relief.

Also strong: format coverage inside a narrow lane. Sugar free gummies, hard gums, mints, tea and tablets are all things the bigger brands here skip, and the sugar free line in particular has no equivalent anywhere else on the site.

Also strong: isolate. It is the least interesting extract to a purist and the most predictable one to a buyer. No spectrum question, no THC arithmetic, no waiting on a certificate to know what is in it.

Weaker: the award claim, unnamed and undated, sitting on the packaging and the site.

Weaker: no certificate on the product page. A brand that leads on manufacturing standards should be the easiest brand to check, and it is not quite.

Weaker: all 20 lines reach us through a single distributor, with none available through the second. That is the same concentration we flagged on Professor Herb and it means availability depends on one supply line.

Weaker: our own listing for the vape liquid carries no strength, which is a gap on our side rather than theirs, and we would rather say so than leave you to notice.

Who should not start here: anyone who wants oil, balms, vape pods or anything with the full plant profile in it. Hempthy makes none of that. Orange County covers oil and topicals properly, and Euphoria covers the full-spectrum end. And if you are new to cannabidiol entirely, start with a 300mg pack rather than a 1,200mg one, not because the sweets differ but because there is no reason to buy sixty of anything before you know whether you like it.

Buying Hempthy in the UK

Hempthy sell direct, through resellers and through a marketplace listing, so this is not a hard brand to find. What is hard to find is a page that does the arithmetic.

None of that appears anywhere else in the current search results.
