The colour declaration on this pouch reads E102, E129, E133 and E132.

The first two are tartrazine and allura red, yellow and red, which between them will produce a convincing peach. The other two are brilliant blue and indigotine. Both are blue, and there is no blue in a peach ring.

The explanation is straightforward once you compare lists. This declaration is character for character identical to the one on Hempthy's mixed-fruit fizzy bears, which we checked separately. The bears genuinely need all four colours, because a bag of mixed bears has blue and green ones in it.

So the fizzy range is one base recipe with the flavouring and shaping changed, and the ingredient declaration is written once for the range rather than for each product. That is completely normal manufacturing practice and it is not a fault.

The consequence is what matters, and nobody selling these states it.

If you read the bears' ingredient list, decided you would rather not have tartrazine or allura red, and switched to the peach rings instead, you have changed nothing at all. The colours travel with the range, not with the flavour. The only way out inside this brand is to leave the fizzy products entirely for the hard gums, which are coloured with anthocyanins, paprika extract and curcumin.

And since two of the four are among the six colours UK law singles out, this pouch carries the same obligation as the rest of the range: a statement that it may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children, which appears on none of the eight UK listings we found for it.

What a sour peach ring actually is

Worth a paragraph because our own catalogue has called it something slightly different from everyone else. We list it as Sour Peaches. The brand and every UK retailer call it Sour Peach Rings, and the ring is the point.

A peach ring is a flat, wide, two-tone gummy hoop, traditionally with a paler ring of what is meant to read as flesh around a deeper orange edge. It is a different eat from a bear: broader surface, thinner section, and considerably more of it in contact with your tongue at once.

That last part matters on a sour sweet. The acid coating sits on the surface, so a wide flat ring delivers noticeably more sourness per bite than a compact bear does, even with an identical dusting. If you found Hempthy's fizzy bears mild, this is the same coating on a shape that carries more of it.

Several retailers describe the product as third-party lab tested. No report is published, by the brand or by any of them.

We have asked for missing certificates repeatedly across this catalogue, so it is worth being precise about what is at stake here rather than treating every gap as identical. On the full spectrum oils and hash elsewhere on this site the missing report is a genuine compliance problem, because those products deliberately retain THC and the only figures published are percentages. Nobody can tell you where they sit against the one milligram per container test without a batch report.

This is an isolate product. There is no THC to resolve. What a certificate would confirm is that the stated twenty milligrams is actually in each ring, which is a fair thing to want and a much smaller question than the one hanging over a full spectrum piece.

What they taste like

Peach ring flavour is its own thing rather than an attempt at actual peach. It is soft, slightly floral, more like a tinned peach than a fresh one, and it carries sourness better than most fruit flavours because the sweetness underneath is quite round.

The acid hits first and hard, given the surface area, then drops away within a few seconds into that soft peach sweetness. Citric and malic acid together give a rounder sourness than citric alone.

At twenty milligrams of isolate there is nothing of the CBD in the taste. Isolate carries no terpenes at all, so what you taste is sugar, acid and flavouring and nothing else.

The texture is chewier than a bear and less bouncy, which is a function of the flat shape rather than a different recipe. Rings also stick together in the pouch more than bears do, and there is not much to be done about that beyond separating them.
