One retailer publishes the full per-shape breakdown for this size, and it is the best data available anywhere in this range. Every other size leaves at least one shape unpublished.

Cubes, Bears and Bottles carry 16mg each and come twenty five to a tub. Strawberries, Cherries and Worms carry 20mg each and come twenty to a tub. Fizzy Peach Rings carry 13.3mg and come thirty to a tub, which makes them the gentlest single sweet Orange County produces at any size.

All five of the shapes we stock are available at this size, which is worth noting because two of them are currently out of stock in the 200mg bag.

On character, the shapes behave the same way they do at every size. Peach Rings are the sharpest and fizziest, Cherries and Strawberries the most intensely fruity, Bears and Cubes the mildest mixed fruit. At 13mg to 20mg the hemp note underneath is faint across all of them.

A Novel Food application number is not an authorisation

One retailer selling this tub prints a single line as a heading: Novel Food application number RP427. No explanation follows it. It is the only mention of Novel Foods we have found anywhere across the Orange County gummy range, and it is worth unpacking properly, because a number like that is easy to read as a seal of approval.

Ingestible CBD in the UK sits under the Novel Foods regime, administered by the Food Standards Agency. Gummies, oils, capsules and drinks are all covered. Vapes and topicals are not, which is a large part of why the whole subject gets muddled.

An application number means a dossier has been submitted and is somewhere in the process. It is not an authorisation, and it is not the same as a product appearing as validated on the FSA public list. Products can hold an application reference for a long time while assessment continues.

So here is our position, stated plainly. The regime applies to this product because it is a food. A retailer publishes an application reference for it. We have not independently verified this line's current status on the FSA public list, so we are not telling you it is authorised. Anyone who tells you a CBD edible is approved should be able to show you the entry, and a bare application number is not that.

Claims you will see on this product, and why we make none

This is an uncomfortable section to write about a product we sell, and it is the reason to write it.

A listing for this exact tub on a major online marketplace carries, in its title, claims about how the sweets will make you feel, naming stress, mood and sleep among them. Those are health and medical claims, and they are not permitted on a CBD food supplement sold in the UK. The rules come from the MHRA and the advertising codes, and they exist because CBD is not a licensed medicine and no seller is in a position to promise an outcome.

We are not going to repeat those claims, contradict them, or supply our own version of them. What CBD does or does not do is not something a shop should be telling you, and any retailer confident enough to put it in a product title is telling you more about their compliance than about the sweets.

What we will tell you is what is in the tub, how much is in each sweet, what the law requires and where the regulatory position is unsettled. That is the entire remit, and it is deliberately less exciting than the alternative.

Where the 400mg sits across the whole range

Four sizes into this range, a clear pattern has emerged, and no page selling any of them describes it. The tub number does not tell you how strong a sweet is. The format does, with one exception.

Almost everything Orange County makes sits between roughly 13mg and 25mg per sweet. The 400mg small tub, the 200mg grab bag and the enormous 1,600mg large tub are all in that band. The 1,200mg small tub is the single outlier at 40mg to 60mg, carrying two to four times more in each individual sweet than anything else in the range.

So if you want a gentle sweet, three of the four sizes will do it and the choice is really about how many you want in the house. If you want a strong sweet, there is exactly one tub that delivers it, and it is not the biggest one.

What 13 to 20mg looks like against FSA advice

The Food Standards Agency advises healthy adults keep CBD from food supplements to no more than 10mg a day. It is precautionary advice rather than a legal limit, and it was revised down from an earlier 70mg figure, announced in October 2023.

A 13.3mg Peach Ring sits a little above that. A 20mg cherry is twice it. Those are the closest figures to the advisory number anywhere in this range, which is the strongest practical argument for the 400mg tub if the guidance matters to you.

Neither page we could read for this size mentions the FSA at all. That has now been true of every ingestible ranking set examined in this range without a single exception, which is a remarkable thing for a category regulated as food.

The THC rule, and a page that publishes two different figures

The test is that a container holds no more than 1mg of controlled cannabinoids in total, meaning THC, THCV and CBN. Per container, not as a percentage, from the exempt product provisions under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

One retailer selling this tub manages to publish two different percentage figures on a single page: a THC level of 0.2 per cent in the product body, and in its own footer a claim that its products are THC free and contain less than 0.01 per cent. Both cannot be the operative figure and neither is the legal test. The larger of the two is a cultivation rule, capping THC in the standing hemp crop grown under a Home Office licence, and it has nothing to do with what may be sold to a consumer.

Broad spectrum extract has the THC removed during processing, which is the mechanism that keeps an edible inside the real limit. The ingredients here are pectin set rather than gelatine set, which makes the sweets vegan, and they are published as gluten free. Everything on this site is 18+ only.

Who should skip the 400mg tub

If you want a lot of CBD in a single sweet, this is the wrong tub and so is nearly everything else in the range. The 1,200mg small tub is the only one carrying 40mg to 60mg per sweet.

If you eat them regularly, twenty to thirty sweets will not last long, and the 1,600mg large tub carries a comparable sweet in far greater quantity.

If you are trying CBD edibles for the very first time, the 200mg grab bag is a smaller commitment for a similar sweet. And if you specifically want Worms or Bottles, both exist at this size in the wider market but are not shapes we carry.
