Aztec CBD Fizzy Bears 900mg is a pouch of thirty gummy bears at 30mg of CBD each, rolled in a sour sugar crust, THC free on the label. It is one of three sour-coated shapes in the Aztec range and one of five CBD gummy bears on our shelf, which makes the bear the most crowded sweet we sell. Two of those five carry exactly 30mg and exactly this kind of crust, and no page anywhere sets them side by side. The brand's own page cannot do it, and its description of this bear runs to a single flavour word borrowed from another product. So this page does the comparison, explains what fizzy actually means on a sweet, and says where the Aztec bear is the right pick and where the other one is.
Five CBD gummy bears, four brands, one shelf
Of the five CBD gummy bears we stock, the Aztec Fizzy Bears and the Hempthy 1,200mg tub are the only two at 30mg with a sour crust, and they are the pair to choose between.
A gummy bear is the default CBD sweet, which is why four of our brands make one. They are not interchangeable. The table below is the comparison no brand site can publish, and it is sorted by how much CBD sits in a single bear, because that is the number that decides how a pouch behaves.
At the top sit two 30mg bears with a sour coating: this pouch and the Hempthy 1,200mg fizzy bears, which come forty to a tub rather than thirty to a pouch. The MediCBD bears are also 30mg but gelatine set and, as far as any published source says, uncoated. The Hempthy 1,000mg pouch drops to 20mg a bear across fifty. The Cannapower 400mg bag publishes a bag total and no bear count, so a figure for one bear cannot honestly be given.
The widget under the table reads the live shelf, so it will also show whichever of these is in stock today and let you sort them by strength and extract.

What fizzy means on this bear, and the one flavour word the brand gives it
Fizzy on a gummy means a dry coating of sugar and fruit acid that fizzes against saliva, not carbonation, and Aztec's only flavour statement for this bear is a single word copied from another sweet.
There is no gas in a fizzy sweet. The fizz is a crust of sugar crystals mixed with citric and malic acid, the two sour acids used across confectionery, dusted over the bear while its surface is still tacky. When the crust meets saliva the acid dissolves fast and sharp, the sugar follows a beat later, and the tingle people call fizz is the acid working on the tongue before the sweetness catches up. It fades within a few seconds and leaves an ordinary soft fruit gum behind. The only ingredient list published for the Aztec range names exactly those two acids with E331 as a buffer, which is the standard sour-coating recipe.
The texture, then, is a crunchy, granular surface over a soft chew. The one independent reviewer of this range, writing about the Fizzy Bottles, singled out the crunchy sugar coating as their favourite thing about the sweet. The Bears carry the same coating on a smaller, rounder piece, so each one is a shorter burst than a bottle and the crust-to-gum ratio is higher.
On flavour, the brand's own Fizzy Bears page says two things: bursting with flavour, and flavoured with cherry. The second line is the same sentence that appears on its Dummies page, so it is a template line rather than a description of a bear. A single-flavour cherry gummy bear would be unusual, since bears are conventionally a mixed-fruit sweet with each colour a different fruit, and the ingredient list says only flavourings. We report the brand's word and we do not promise a cherry bear. If you need the flavour confirmed, the honest answer is that no seller can confirm it today, and we have asked the distributor for the current label.
One shape note while we are here. A retailer in the ranking set lists an Aztec Fizzy Worms, which would be a seventh shape and a fizzy version of the plain Worms we stock. We have not been able to verify it exists and we do not stock it. The six shapes we do carry are set out further down.
Aztec Fizzy Bears or Hempthy's 1,200mg fizzy bears: the 30mg head-to-head
Both bears carry 30mg, the same two acids, the same buffer and the same four colours, so the choice comes down to pack format, bear count and whether a settled vegan position matters to you.
Put the two published recipes next to each other and they are nearly the same document. Both list citric and malic acid with E331. Both list the colours E102, E129, E133 and E132. Both declare sulphites. We cannot tell you why two brands publish matching fingerprints, because neither says where its sweets are made, and we are not going to guess at a shared factory. We can tell you the lists match, which is useful on its own: if one of those colours or the sulphites is a problem for you, switching between these two bears does not solve it.
Where they part. Hempthy's bear ships in a tub of forty, which keeps a sour crust dry far better than a pouch does once opened. Aztec's ships thirty to a resealable pouch. Hempthy publishes a vegan position and the bear is set without gelatine. Aztec's category page calls its range vegan, an independent reviewer who read a sibling pouch's label reports beef gelatine, and the published ingredient list names no setting agent at all; the whole argument is on our Aztec Dummies page, and until it is resolved we are not calling this bear vegan.
On the pouch itself, Aztec's dosing text is the other difference, and it is the subject of the next section. Hempthy's tub carries its own serving line, which that product's page covers.

Two bears a day is 60mg, and the FSA advises 10mg
The pouch recommends two bears a day, which is six times the Food Standards Agency's advisory figure, and one bear alone is three times it.
Every Aztec pouch prints the same instruction: one gummy is 30mg, the recommended daily amount is two gummies at 60mg, and the ceiling is 70mg a day. The Food Standards Agency revised its precautionary advice for healthy adults down to no more than 10mg of CBD a day from food supplements in October 2023, following advice from the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs. The 70mg ceiling on the pouch is the figure that revision replaced.
That is reported, not endorsed, and we are not going to issue an amount of our own. The FSA figure is consumer advice rather than a legal limit, and where it came from is set out in our guide to how much CBD to take. The slider below does the arithmetic only: how much a given number of bears comes to in a day and how long a pouch lasts at that rate.
A bear is a harder sweet to split than a Dummy or a bottle. It is small and the crust shatters when you cut it, so a half bear is a rough 15mg with the coating mostly lost. If the FSA figure is your reference, a bear made at 10mg is the sensible object, and the Hempthy 300mg pouch on our CBD gummies shelf is exactly that.
Keeping the crust crunchy once the pouch is open
A sour sugar crust is hygroscopic, so it pulls moisture out of the air and turns sticky, and the pouch rather than the sweet decides how long the fizz lasts.
This is the practical thing no page selling a fizzy sweet mentions. The acid-sugar coating that makes the bear fizz also makes it absorb water from the air. Leave the pouch open on a kitchen counter and within a day or two the crust goes from granular to tacky, the bears start to cling to each other, and the first-second sharpness softens into a general sourness. The CBD is unaffected; the experience is not.
Three habits keep the coating as it was packed. None of them is complicated.
Reseal the pouch after every bear
Press the zip closed along its full length and squeeze the air out first. Most of the moisture that reaches the crust comes in through a pouch left open on the side.
Keep it away from steam
Not above the kettle, not next to the hob, not in a bathroom cabinet. A cool, dry cupboard is right. Room temperature is fine; the crust is damaged by humidity, not warmth.
Do not refrigerate
A cold pouch brought into a warm room sweats on the inside, and condensation is the fastest way to dissolve a sour coating. Hempthy's tub format sidesteps most of this, which is a fair reason to prefer it if a pouch will sit open for weeks.
Three fizzy shapes, three soft ones, and the 1mg rule
The Fizzy Bears are one of three sour-coated Aztec shapes, all at the same 30mg, and like every pouch on this site the container must hold under 1mg of controlled cannabinoids.
Aztec makes six shapes at 900mg and we stock all six. Three carry the sour crust: these Bears, the Fizzy Bottles and the Fizzy Cherries. Three are soft and smooth: the Dew Drops, the Dummies and the Worms. Same 30mg, same count, same recipe, so the choice within the brand is purely coating and shape. Among the fizzy three, the Bears are the smallest piece and the quickest to eat, the Bottles the chewiest, the Cherries a twin piece on a stalk.
On the law, the test is in the box above and the full argument is in our guide to whether CBD is legal in the UK. One retailer selling this range prints its THC figure as a percentage with the sign pointing the wrong way; a percentage is the Home Office rule for the standing hemp crop and was never the consumer test. Our catalogue records this bear as an isolate, which has had the THC removed before it reaches the sweet, so a pouch under 1mg is the expected outcome. One UK retailer lists the same bear as full spectrum, which would not sit with a THC-free label, and the three-way extract contradiction is tabulated on the Dummies page. Ingestible CBD also sits under the Novel Foods regime; nothing here claims this product is authorised. 18+ only.
Who the Fizzy Bears suit, and who should pick another bear
Right for someone who wants a sour crust on a 30mg bear in a resealable pouch, wrong for a beginner, a vegan, or anyone who dislikes sour sweets.
The pack size we sell is shown in the label strip beside the photo and in the basket box; it is set by how our distributor supplies the line, and each pouch inside it is the 150g, thirty-bear pouch described here.
A plain warning that one competitor on the secondary term makes and no Aztec seller does: a fizzy sweet is a sour sweet. If sour confectionery makes you wince, the soft Aztec shapes carry the identical gum without the crust.
Good for
- You want a sour sugar crust on a gummy bear and already know 30mg suits you
- You want a resealable pouch rather than a tub
- You want the smallest, quickest fizzy piece in the Aztec range
Not for you if
- You are new to CBD. One bear is three times the FSA's daily advisory figure; a 10mg bear exists on our CBD gummies shelf
- You are vegan or vegetarian. The claim is contradicted and unconfirmed; the Hempthy 1,200mg fizzy bears are the settled 30mg alternative
- You dislike sour sweets. The Dew Drops are the same gum with no crust
- You avoid E102 or E129, or sulphites. Both bears in the head-to-head carry them
Questions people ask
Are Aztec CBD Fizzy Bears sour?
Yes. The crust is sugar mixed with citric and malic acid, so the first second or two is sharp and tingly before the sweetness of the gum underneath comes through. If you dislike sour sweets, the Dew Drops, Dummies and Worms in the same range are the identical 30mg gum with no coating.
What flavour are Aztec CBD Fizzy Bears?
The brand's page gives one word, cherry, in a sentence it also uses for its Dummies, so it is a template line rather than a description. Gummy bears are conventionally mixed fruit with each colour a different flavour, and the published ingredient list says only flavourings. We report the brand's word and do not promise a cherry bear.
Which is better, Aztec Fizzy Bears or Hempthy fizzy gummy bears?
They are the same strength, 30mg a bear, with matching acid, buffer and colour lists, so neither is stronger or milder. Hempthy's 1,200mg tub has a published vegan position and a format that keeps the crust dry; Aztec's is a resealable pouch of thirty whose vegan status is disputed between sources. Pick Hempthy if vegan matters, Aztec if you prefer a pouch.
Does Aztec make a fizzy version of every shape?
No. Three of the six shapes we stock carry the sour crust, the Fizzy Bears, Fizzy Bottles and Fizzy Cherries, and three are soft, the Dew Drops, Dummies and Worms. One retailer lists a Fizzy Worms that would make a seventh; we have not verified it exists and we do not stock it.
Why has the sour coating on my fizzy bears gone sticky?
The acid-sugar crust absorbs moisture from the air, so a pouch left open, kept near steam or taken in and out of a fridge goes tacky within a day or two and the bears cling together. Reseal after each one, store in a cool dry cupboard and never refrigerate. The CBD is unaffected; only the texture changes.
Do Aztec Fizzy Bears use the same colours as Hempthy's fizzy bears?
The published lists match: E102, E129, E133 and E132 on both, with sulphites declared on both. Two of those colours require a statement on UK labels about children's activity and attention. Neither brand says where its sweets are made, so we cannot tell you why the recipes match, only that swapping between them avoids nothing on the colour list.
Is 900mg of fizzy bears a lot compared with other brands?
As a pouch total it sits in the middle of our shelf: Hempthy's bears come in 1,000mg and 1,200mg packs and Cannapower's in 400mg and 1,200mg bags. What matters more is the 30mg in each bear, which is the highest single-bear figure we stock, shared with Hempthy's 1,200mg tub and MediCBD. The pouch total just tells you how many bears you are buying.
Can I take Aztec CBD Fizzy Bears abroad?
Check the destination first, because UK legality does not travel. The UK test is 1mg of controlled cannabinoids per container, but several countries class CBD edibles as controlled regardless of THC content and some ban CBD outright. A sweet that is legal to buy here can still be seized or worse at another border, so look up the specific country before packing them.
