What a Cannapower milligram number actually tells you

Every Cannapower gummy line we carry comes in a 125g pack. The weight does not change. What changes is how much cannabidiol is dispersed through it: 400mg in one version, 1,200mg in the other. Same quantity of sweets, three times the cannabidiol.

That is the opposite of how the other gummy specialist on this site works. Hempthy fixes the unit at 20mg in each sweet and changes the count, so a 1,200mg Hempthy pack is not stronger than a 300mg one, it just has more sweets in it. On a Cannapower pack, the higher number genuinely is stronger.

This matters the moment you try to compare two brands, which is exactly what anyone standing in a category page is doing. A shopper who has learned the Hempthy logic and applies it to Cannapower will underestimate the 1,200mg pack by a factor of three. A shopper who does the reverse will overestimate. Nobody selling either brand has pointed this out, and it is the single most useful sentence on this page.

One caution on precision. The brand's own product pages describe the strength in each sweet as a range rather than a figure, which is a wide band on a product whose whole proposition is the number on the front. Read the pack you receive rather than the arithmetic you expect.

Who Cannapower are, and what we stock of them

Cannapower is a London company that both manufactures its own line and runs physical shops, with three addresses in Soho and Camden. It states that its products are made in the UK. That combination, a brand with its own high-street presence, is unusual in this category and it is a reasonable sign of substance.

It is also worth knowing that the company sells other brands alongside its own, so its website is a shop as much as a brand home. That is not a criticism, but it does mean the site you land on when you search the brand name is not a neutral source about it, which is part of why this page exists.

Our range is a subset of what they make. We carry five gummy flavours where the brand's own range runs to eight, and two strengths where the brand goes considerably higher. The pack format differs too: our lines are 125g packs, while the brand sells jars. Our listings record the gummies as cannabidiol isolate, and the brand describes some of its own jars as broad spectrum. Those look like two different pack formats rather than a contradiction, but the pack in your hand is the authority, not this page and not a product grid.

Outside the gummies there are two lines worth knowing. The CBD Relief Cream at 1,000mg is a topical, which sits outside the Novel Foods regime entirely. And the Full Spectrum CBD and CBG Resin is the only full-spectrum product this brand contributes to our shelves, which puts it in a different compliance conversation from everything else here.

What Cannapower documents well, and where it goes wrong

Two things this brand does better than most, and they are worth stating plainly before the criticism, because the criticism means nothing otherwise.

First, it publishes certificates of analysis, linked per flavour rather than as a single vague promise of testing. That is checkable documentation and it puts Cannapower ahead of several larger brands we stock, including ones with far more marketing behind them.

Second, and more unusual: it states the UK legal test correctly. Its product pages say a product must contain no more than one milligram of THC. Across every brand and retailer we have examined for these pages, this is the only one that has got that right. Everyone else either quotes a percentage that belongs to farming rules, gives a vague assurance about legal amounts, or says nothing at all.

Which makes the next part more frustrating than it would otherwise be. Under directions for use, the brand tells buyers not to exceed 70 milligrams a day, in line with guidance from the Food Standards Agency. That figure was the guidance until February 2023, when the agency revised it down to 10 milligrams a day for healthy adults. It has been superseded for over three years, and here it is printed as an instruction rather than as background.

This is the second time we have found the 70mg figure while researching these pages. The first was on a different domain, for a different brand. One is a slip. Two, on a brand page and a reseller page, means the number is circulating through this whole category faster than the correction is.

The other thing to flag is the product copy itself, which attaches specific named conditions to a confectionery product. We do not repeat those claims and we are not permitted to. UK medicines and advertising rules do not allow a CBD product to be presented as acting on a condition, and a page that does it is carrying a risk rather than useful information. Our own product pages describe what is in the pack and nothing further.

Lastly, a small one. The brand's page titles describe the gummies as top ranked in the UK, with no ranking, body or measure attached to it. It means nothing, and on a brand that is otherwise better documented than its rivals it is a shame.

How Cannapower compares with the other brands we stock

The comparison that decides most orders is Cannapower against Hempthy, because they are the two brands here doing essentially the same job.

Hempthy is broader within confectionery: gummies, hard gums, mints, tea and tablets, twenty lines, nineteen with a figure. Cannapower is narrower, ten gummy lines in five flavours, and adds a topical and a resin that Hempthy has no equivalent for. Cannapower publishes certificates per flavour and Hempthy does not put one on the product page. Hempthy has the sugar free line, which nothing else on this site matches.

Against Orange County the gap is range rather than quality. Orange County covers oil, gummies, e-liquid, vape pods and balms across 27 lines with a figure on every one, and reaches strengths neither of these two attempts. If you want more than sweets and a cream, that is where to go.

Against Multitrance and Euphoria the comparison is simply about whether you want a number at all. Both of those are cannabis-culture ranges where most lines state nothing. Cannapower states something on eleven of twelve.

Where Cannapower is strong, and where it is not

Strong: the documentation. Certificates linked per flavour, a correct statement of the UK legal test, and a stated UK manufacturing base. On the things that are hard to fake, this brand is better than its size suggests.

Also strong: the format. A 125g pack at two concentrations is a simple, honest structure, and the higher strength genuinely is higher strength, which is not true of every brand in this aisle.

Also strong: the dietary coverage. Vegan, gluten free and dairy free across the gummy range, which widens who can eat them without needing a separate product line.

Weaker: the 70mg figure, published as a direction for use. Of everything on this page it is the thing most likely to lead someone to take more than they intended, and it is the easiest of all of it to fix.

Weaker: the outcome claims in the product copy. A brand this careful about its certificates should not need them.

Weaker: the unnamed ranking claim, and a per-unit strength published as a wide band rather than a number.

Weaker: all twelve lines reach us through a single distributor, with none available through the second. That is the third brand in a row with that concentration and it is worth you knowing that availability rests on one supply line.

Who should not start here: anyone who wants oil, vape or a wider format range, in which case Orange County covers all of it. Anyone who wants the widest confectionery spread, in which case Hempthy has mints, hard gums, tea and tablets that Cannapower does not make. And anyone new to cannabidiol should take the 400mg pack rather than the 1,200mg, because on this brand, unlike some of its neighbours, that difference is real.

Where Cannapower sits under UK law

The consumer test in the UK is one milligram of controlled cannabinoids in the container. Not per serving, not a percentage. Cannapower state this correctly on their own pages, which as far as our research goes makes them the only brand in this shop that does.

The percentage figure that circulates across this category, and which several competing pages publish as though it were the consumer limit, is a cultivation rule. It caps THC in a standing hemp crop grown under a Home Office licence. It is a farming threshold about a field and it has never governed what may be sold to a person.

On intake, the current position is the one the brand's directions have not caught up with: the Food Standards Agency advises healthy adults to keep cannabidiol from food supplements to no more than 10 milligrams a day, revised down from 70 milligrams in February 2023. That is regulator guidance, not a dose, and not a recommendation from us.

Ingestible cannabidiol in Great Britain also requires authorisation under the Novel Foods regime, with validated products published on a public list. That covers the gummies. It does not cover the CBD Relief Cream, which is a topical and sits outside the regime, so it should not be described as authorised either way. The full-spectrum resin is the one line here where the per-container question genuinely bites, and we will not publish a THC figure for it until we hold a batch certificate.

Buying Cannapower in the UK

Search this brand and every result on the first page belongs to the company itself. There is no independent page about Cannapower anywhere in those results, which is unusual even in a category this young, and it is the reason we have written one.

What we have added is the part a brand cannot write about itself: that its milligram numbers mean something different from the brand beside it, that its certificates are genuinely good, that its correct statement of the legal test is the only one we have found, and that its own directions for use are running three years behind the regulator.

We stock the brands it competes with, so when Hempthy suits you better on format or Orange County suits you better on range, we will say so and link you there. That is the only durable advantage an independent stockist has, and it is worth more than another product grid.
