What the pod is and what it fits

Start with the practical part, because for a replacement pod it is the question that actually matters.

This is a sealed, pre-filled 1ml pod. You do not refill it. It clicks into a rechargeable battery and you replace the whole pod when it is finished, which is the standard arrangement for this style of device and the reason the kit and the pod are sold as separate things.

The hardware platform is CCELL Eazie. That is worth knowing because CCELL is a third-party hardware manufacturer rather than something Professor Herb makes, and the Eazie system is sold openly and used by other cannabinoid brands too. In principle that suggests pods and batteries on the same platform may interchange.

We are not going to tell you they definitely do. We have not tested this pod in another brand's Eazie battery, nobody publishes a compatibility statement, and a pod that almost fits is a pod that leaks. If you already own an Eazie device and want to know whether this will work in it, ask us before ordering rather than assuming, and we will find out properly. It is the single most useful thing a replacement pod page could tell you and not one page anywhere attempts it.

What is not published anywhere, by the maker or by any retailer: an ingredients list, a battery specification, charging details, or a coil resistance. For a product built on a named hardware platform that is a surprising amount of silence.

Why the words full spectrum do not work on this product

The pack says Full Spectrum. There are two separate reasons that phrase does not survive contact with what is actually in the pod, and the second one comes from the manufacturer.

The first is definitional. Full spectrum describes a plant extract that has kept the range of compounds the plant made, including the trace THC that comes with them. It is a statement about how little was taken out of something that grew. H4CBD did not grow. It is made by taking CBD into a laboratory and adding hydrogen atoms to it, producing a molecule the hemp plant does not produce at all. A laboratory-made compound cannot itself be a full spectrum extract, however it was made. At most, H4CBD could have been added to a full spectrum base, in which case the phrase describes the carrier liquid rather than the cannabinoid the product is named after.

The second reason is sharper, and you can check it in a minute. Professor Herb's own website says of its H4CBD range that any high-inducing THC has been removed or reduced to permitted levels. Removing the THC is precisely what makes an extract broad spectrum rather than full. Full spectrum is the grade that keeps it. So the name on the pod and the sentence on the maker's own site are describing two different things, and they cannot both be right.

We are not making a point about honesty here. Spectrum vocabulary is used loosely across this whole industry and a marketing phrase gets attached to a product for reasons that have nothing to do with a lab. But it does mean that if you were choosing this pod because full spectrum was what you wanted, you should know that the label does not establish that, and neither does anything else published about it.

What we will and will not tell you about the contents

Our position on full spectrum products is consistent across the site, and here it has to go a step further than usual.

Normally the issue with full spectrum is THC. It is the grade that deliberately retains it, so the paperwork matters more than on an isolate, and we do not publish a THC figure for any full spectrum line until we hold a per-batch certificate of analysis for it. That still applies.

The extra problem on this pod is that we cannot establish the grade at all. The name says one thing, the manufacturer's own compliance sentence says another, and no independent analysis is published. So we are not going to tell you this is full spectrum, we are not going to tell you it is broad spectrum, and we are certainly not going to quote a THC figure derived from a grade we cannot confirm.

For completeness, since every page in this aisle leans on it: the UK consumer test is an absolute quantity, no more than 1mg of controlled cannabinoids, meaning THC, THCV and CBN, in the container, whatever the container's size. Percentages quoted around the trade come from Home Office rules on what a licensed grower's crop may contain in a field, which is a different question entirely.

About the hundred times more effective claim

Professor Herb's own H4CBD collection page states that H4CBD is a hundred times more effective than CBD. That figure is worth taking apart, because the version in circulation has quietly changed shape.

The number originates in laboratory measurements of binding affinity at the CB1 receptor. H4CBD binds there considerably more readily than CBD does. But CBD's own affinity for CB1 is very low to begin with, so a hundredfold multiple of a very small quantity remains a small quantity, and binding affinity is not the same thing as an effect anybody would notice. One analysis that engages with this seriously puts the practical difference nearer threefold. A UK cannabis publication covering H4CBD says plainly that it is difficult to be sure what the figure really means and that much more research is needed on both effects and safety.

So a measurement of how tightly a molecule attaches to a receptor has become a claim about how well it works. Those are not the same statement, and the second does not follow from the first.

The same page also describes the range as delivering a noticeably stronger effect for most users. We mention that not to repeat it as a claim of our own, which it is not, but because it sits awkwardly beside the argument the wider trade uses to place H4CBD outside the Psychoactive Substances Act 2016: that it produces no psychoactive effect. A substance cannot be outside that Act for producing no effect while being sold on how strong an effect it produces. The Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs is currently reviewing H4CBD, and the position may change.

Inhaled rather than eaten, and why that changes the rules

H4CBD holds no Novel Foods authorisation. That sentence gets printed on H4CBD products of every kind, and on this one it needs a qualification, because it is not the question a pod raises.

Novel Foods governs what you eat and drink. Ingestible CBD requires Food Standards Agency authorisation, and ingestible H4CBD does not have it. But a pod is inhaled. Vapes and topicals sit outside the Novel Foods regime altogether, so on this page the live regulatory question is the Psychoactive Substances Act one set out above, not Novel Foods.

Where the Novel Foods point genuinely bites is on the H4CBD products in our range that you swallow. If you have been browsing this aisle generally, that is the distinction to carry with you: inhaled and ingested raise different questions, and only one of them is about food law.

The three flavours

Three pods, and the same caveat we apply across this brand: the strain-style names describe the terpene and flavour layer, not a plant the cannabinoid came from. The H4CBD in all three is the same laboratory-made compound.

No page anywhere describes any of them, so the notes below cover what each profile conventionally tastes of.

Pod, kit, or something that is actually CBD

Three different decisions get confused on this page, so it is worth separating them.

If you already own the Professor Herb H4CBD device, this pod is the refill and you are in the right place. If you do not own the device, this pod alone will not work, and the kit is what you need. And if what you actually wanted was CBD rather than a semi-synthetic, the same brand makes a CBD vape liquid, which is a genuinely different product rather than a variation on this one.

Who should not buy this

If you do not own the matching device, do not buy this pod on its own. It is a refill and nothing else, and there is no adapter that turns it into a working vape.

If you own a different CCELL Eazie device and are hoping it will simply fit, ask us first. It may well, but we have not confirmed it and neither has anyone else in print, and a pod that seats imperfectly leaks rather than working badly.

If you want CBD, this is not it, and the similarity of the names is doing you no favours. The Professor Herb CBD vape liquid in the table above is the same brand making an actual cannabidiol product.

If you specifically want a full spectrum product, this label does not establish that you are getting one, for the reasons set out above. Buy a plant extract from a brand that publishes its analysis.

If you need regulatory certainty, H4CBD is the wrong corner of our range. The position is contested and under active review, and we would rather say so than sell you reassurance we cannot back.
