The novel foods entry, and exactly what it covers

Ingestible cannabidiol in Britain sits inside the Food Standards Agency's novel foods regime. Products belong on the market only where they are linked to an application the agency has validated or accepted as progressing, and the agency publishes that list openly.

Eco-CBD is on it. The entry covers a hemp extract paste with hemp seed oil in a raw taste, in a 10ml size, listed under the applicant name Eco CBD, with the status recorded as validated and an application reference of RP-438. The register names the supplier as Eco Vape Ltd and the producer as Dushey Med Ltd, and the record was last updated in December 2025.

For context on how unusual that is: we have searched the same register for every brand we have assessed so far and found nothing at all for any of them. This is the first.

Now the qualification, and it matters. The validated entry is for the twenty per cent paste. The strength our distributor actually supplies is the ten per cent. The two carry product codes that are identical apart from a single digit marking the concentration, they share a producer and a format, and they are plainly the same product at two strengths. But a novel foods application attaches to a product as it was applied for, so an entry covering one concentration does not automatically carry another.

We tried to settle it from the register itself and could not, because a name search there returns hundreds of loose matches across unrelated brands. So the position is this: the brand has a validated entry, which is more than we can say for anything else we stock, and we have asked our distributor to confirm whether the strength we would ship sits under the same reference or has its own. We would rather set that out than let a validated badge cover a bottle it may not describe.

One more boundary worth drawing. Novel foods applies to things you swallow. The vape booster shot is not ingestible and sits outside the regime altogether, so nothing about the register entry says anything about it either way.

Who actually makes it

Eco-CBD comes out of a group with more industrial substance behind it than most of the labels on our shelves.

The supplier is Eco Vape Ltd, a Derbyshire manufacturer of e-liquids for retail and wholesale, and one of the earlier British companies to put cannabidiol into vape products before moving into supplements as well.

The producer named on the register is Dushey Med Ltd, a bulk cannabidiol and cannabigerol supplier that holds a licence to grow hemp, belongs to the European Industrial Hemp Association, and brought a white label manufacturer in house in late 2021 so that it runs from raw material through to finished goods.

A licensed grower producing its own finished stock is a genuinely different proposition from a label that buys distillate and puts a sticker on it, and it is the sort of thing a brand page ought to tell you. None of the retail listings selling this range mentions any of it.

Several connections are worth flagging, because we found them while researching other brands entirely, and together they say something about how much of our shelf comes from one place.

Dushey also produces EndoFlo, which we stock and have written up separately. The link is closer than a shared producer: the Eco-CBD website itself now redirects permanently to EndoFlo's, so the two brands share a web presence as well as a manufacturer. Psycho Bunny, another name we carry, is an Eco Vape brand too. And Blazed, the label behind one of our gummy lines, is our own distributor's house brand, part of the same Eco Vape family.

So four of the names on this site trace back to one group, and that group also distributes to us. That is the third such cluster this research has turned up, after four of our brands proving to belong to one Amsterdam-area company and three more to one Arizona one. It changes nothing about the products, and you should still know it, because a claim on one label is not independent support for a claim on another, and because a supplier recommending its own brands is not the same thing as an independent recommendation.

We should also say what we will not do. Our own distributor's copy for the paste makes a health benefit claim and an entourage claim. We are not repeating either. Nothing on this site is sold as acting on any condition, and a supplement is not permitted to be described that way regardless of what a trade listing says.

A paste is not an oil, and a booster shot is not an e-liquid

Both products here are formats we sell exactly one of, and both are commonly misunderstood, so this is the practical section.

The paste first. It is the only paste in our entire range, and it is a different thing from the oil drops that fill the rest of that aisle. A paste is a thick whole extract taken under the tongue from a pipette rather than a measured dropper, unflavoured and tasting strongly of raw hemp, which people either want or very much do not. It is a format for somebody who has already decided they prefer the whole extract and is not looking for it to be pleasant.

Because it is full spectrum, it is one of the products on our own compliance worklist. Full spectrum means the whole plant extract is retained rather than stripped, which is the only grade where the tetrahydrocannabinol question genuinely arises. No certificate of analysis is published for it by the brand, the producer or our distributor, and no THC figure appears anywhere, so we have asked for a per-batch certificate stating the container total in milligrams.

Now the booster shot, and this is the part nothing selling it explains. It holds a thousand milligrams in ten millilitres, which is a hundred milligrams in every millilitre. That is double the strongest finished vape liquid on this site.

It is not, however, a vape liquid. A booster shot is a concentrate meant to be added into a base or into an existing bottle to raise its strength. Vaping it neat is not what it is designed for. If you have arrived at it because the milligram figure looked like the strongest liquid available, that is precisely the misreading to avoid, and it is the fourth time in this run of brand research that a number on a pack has described something other than what a buyer would assume.

If a ready-to-use vape liquid is what you actually want, we sell several and they are a straightforwardly better purchase. If a booster is what you want, note that the only other one on this site is a Euphoria H4CBD shot, and H4CBD is a semi-synthetic cannabinoid rather than cannabidiol, so it is not an alternative to this at all.

Where Eco-CBD is strong, and where it is not

Strong, and it is not close: the novel foods position. A validated register entry with a published application reference is the single most substantive compliance fact any brand on this site can show, and this is the only one that can show it.

Strong: the provenance. A Derbyshire supplier and a producer that holds a hemp growing licence and manufactures its own finished goods is a real supply chain rather than a label on somebody else's distillate.

Strong: it fills two genuine holes in our range. It is the only paste we sell and the only cannabidiol booster shot we sell, and neither format is covered by anything else on the shelves.

Weaker: no certificate of analysis is published anywhere for either product, by the brand, the producer or our distributor. On a full spectrum paste that is the wrong way round, because full spectrum is exactly the grade where a buyer needs the number.

Weaker: the strength on the register is not the strength stocked here, and until our distributor confirms otherwise that is an open question rather than a closed one.

Weaker: two products is a very small range, and the wider Eco-CBD paste range runs from ten per cent up to thirty. We carry the bottom of it.

Weaker, and this one is ours: our paste listing records no strength at all and our own generated summary describes a full spectrum product as an isolate. Both are being corrected in the data.

Weaker: a single distributor supplies both lines.

Who should not buy this: anyone who wants a pleasant tasting oil, because a raw paste is not that and the oil drops aisle is where you should be. Anyone who wants a vape liquid they can use straight from the bottle, because the booster is a concentrate. Anyone who needs to see a lab certificate before consuming a full spectrum extract, because there is not one published. And anyone expecting the validated entry to cover everything with this brand's name on it, since it covers one paste at one strength and not the vape product at all.

Where Eco-CBD sits under UK law

Two products, two different legal positions, and conflating them is the easiest mistake to make here.

The paste is ingestible, so novel foods applies, and that is where the validated entry matters. It is also full spectrum, so the cannabinoid limit is live: the United Kingdom test is one milligram of controlled cannabinoids, meaning tetrahydrocannabinol together with THCV and CBN, in the container, whatever size that container is. Not a percentage, and not a figure for a single dose. Any percentage limit quoted at you belongs to the rules governing how much tetrahydrocannabinol a hemp crop may contain while growing under a Home Office licence, and it has never been the test for something sold to a person.

For a 10ml paste that is a smaller container than most of the full spectrum oils we carry, which helps, but it does not answer the question. Only a certificate stating the container total does, and we have asked for one.

The booster shot is isolate rather than full spectrum, so the cannabinoid arithmetic is far less fraught, and being a vape product it falls outside novel foods entirely. It is also not a disposable, which matters because single use vapes have been banned in Britain since June 2025.

Both are for over eighteens only. Nothing on this page is sold or described as acting on any condition, and where a trade listing has made that kind of claim we have declined to carry it across.

Buying Eco-CBD in the UK

There are British retailers carrying this range, including shops selling the paste at strengths above the one we stock, so availability is reasonable.

What none of them does is explain any of the above. Not one retail listing we found mentions the novel foods register at all, which is remarkable given it is the strongest thing this brand has going for it and it is published on a government website. None names the producer or the hemp growing licence behind it. None explains that a booster shot needs diluting. None publishes a certificate or a tetrahydrocannabinol figure for a full spectrum paste. One makes a health claim it should not.

What we have added: the register entry quoted with its reference and its status, the strength mismatch stated plainly rather than glossed, the producer and the supply chain named, the paste explained as a format rather than assumed, the booster shot's concentration set against every finished liquid we sell so the difference is obvious, and an open compliance question that makes this range harder for us to sell rather than easier.

If our distributor confirms the ten per cent sits under the same application, this page will say so and name the reference. If it turns out not to, we will say that too, and act on it.
