Three formats, and which one a grab bag actually is

Orange County makes its gummies in a grab bag, a small tub and a large tub. The bag is what you are looking at here. The manufacturer describes it as a way in without committing to a full tub, which is the right idea, though it publishes none of the numbers that would let you act on it.

Here are the numbers. The grab bag holds 200mg across 8 to 12 sweets at 16mg to 25mg each. The small tub holds 1,200mg across 20 to 30 sweets at 40mg to 60mg each. The large tub holds 1,600mg across 70 to 100 sweets at 16mg to 23mg each.

Read those three rows and something jumps out that no page selling any of them mentions. The grab bag and the large tub are essentially the same sweet. The small tub is the odd one out, carrying two and a half to three times more in each individual sweet than either of the other formats.

So the range is not a simple ladder from weak to strong. It is two formats at one strength and one format at a much higher one, and the tub sizes do not tell you which is which.

Every shape in the bag, and what you can get

The per-shape figures for this size exist but sit one per retailer across the web, which is how it has gone for every size in this range. Cherries and Strawberries come eight to a bag at 25mg each. Bears come twelve to a bag at around 16.6mg. Bottles, a shape we do not carry, come twelve at 16mg.

No published figure could be found for Mixed Fruit Cubes at this size. We are marking that as unpublished rather than putting a plausible number in a table and letting it look like fact.

On availability, two of our five shapes are currently out of stock, and it is worth knowing which two: Cherries and Fizzy Peach Rings. Cherries is one of the two 25mg shapes, so the strongest sweets in the bag format are among the ones you cannot get at the moment. Bears, Cubes and Strawberries are available.

Why this is a real trial and not a token one

Trial sizes usually cheat. You get a weaker version of the product, decide you like it, buy the full size and find it behaves differently. That is not what happens here, and it is the strongest argument for this bag.

A 25mg strawberry from the grab bag and a 23mg strawberry from the large tub are, for practical purposes, the same sweet. A 16.6mg bear from the bag and a 16mg bear from the large tub are the same sweet. If you work out that a bear suits you better than a strawberry, or that one sweet is enough, that finding carries directly across to the large tub with nothing lost in translation.

It does not carry across to the small tub. A 60mg sweet from the 1,200mg tub is roughly two and a half times a bag strawberry, so a preference formed on the bag tells you very little about how the small tub will suit you. If the small tub is where you are heading, the bag is not the right rehearsal.

Where a bag sits against FSA advice

The Food Standards Agency advises healthy adults keep CBD from food supplements to no more than 10mg a day. It is precautionary consumer advice rather than a legal limit, and it was revised down from an earlier 70mg figure, announced in October 2023.

One 25mg sweet from this bag is two and a half times that figure. A 16.6mg bear is a little over one and a half times. That is a meaningfully different position from the 60mg sweets in the small tub, which sit at six times, and it is another reason the bag suits people who are still working out what they want.

Neither page we could read for this product mentions the FSA at all, which has now been true of every single ingestible ranking set examined in this range. The manufacturer's own grab bag page does not mention it either.

What is in them, and where the brand disagrees with itself

Pectin set rather than gelatine set, which is what makes them vegan. The ingredients are broad spectrum hemp derived CBD, glucose syrup, sugar, invert sugar, citric and malic acid, pectin, sorbitol, fruit juice concentrate and apple, with natural flavouring and plant based colours.

Two inconsistencies worth flagging, both the manufacturer's own. First, its grab bag page describes each bear as packing an impressive 17mg of CBD while the specification block on the same page states 16.6mg. Small, but it is the brand disagreeing with itself on one screen. Second, that page states no vegan or gluten free status at all, even though its own collection page says all its edibles are made from entirely vegan ingredients and retailers selling the same sweets describe them as 100 per cent vegan.

On flavour, broad spectrum leaves a faint earthy note under the fruit. In a 25mg strawberry it is noticeable. In a 16.6mg bear it is fainter, simply because there is less extract in the sweet.

The legal position, and a sitewide claim worth correcting

A CBD product sold to a UK consumer must hold no more than 1mg of controlled cannabinoids, meaning THC, THCV and CBN, per container. Per container, whatever the container's size, and not as a percentage. It comes from the exempt product provisions under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

One retailer selling this bag publishes a blanket statement that every product on its website contains less than 0.2 per cent THC. That figure is a cultivation rule, capping THC in the standing hemp crop grown under a Home Office licence, and it has nothing to do with what may lawfully be sold to a consumer. Asserting it across a whole catalogue as a compliance position is a bigger version of the same mistake rather than a smaller one.

We are not claiming this line holds a validated authorisation because we have not verified an entry on the FSA public list, and nobody should claim otherwise without showing it to you.

Who should skip the grab bag

If you already know these suit you and you eat them regularly, a bag of eight to twelve will disappear quickly. The large tub carries the same sweet in quantity, which is the whole point of the comparison above.

If you are heading for the 1,200mg small tub, this bag is a poor rehearsal for it. Those sweets are two and a half to three times stronger, so what you learn here will not transfer.
