What the Medi in MediCBD does not mean

It is a brand name chosen by a Dutch confectionery manufacturer. It is not a licence, not a classification, and not a signal that this product has been assessed for any health purpose. There is no medicines authorisation behind it and none is claimed by the maker, who describes the sweet in the same plain terms it uses for its other labels.

The trouble is what surrounds it. Look at the UK pages currently ranking for this product and the framing does a lot of work the label cannot support. One of them sets out a short list of specific health outcomes in a single sentence of body copy, and then, a few lines further down the same page, carries the standard disclaimer stating that its products are not intended to diagnose or affect any condition. Both statements cannot be true at once. Another result puts a named health condition directly into its page title.

We are not going to repeat any of that, and not out of caution. CBD is sold in Britain as a food supplement, a seller may not attach health outcomes to one, and a page that makes a claim and then disclaims it in the small print has not solved anything. It has just written the claim down twice.

So here is our version. This is a chewy sweet. It contains thirty milligrams of CBD, some sugar, some gelatine and some colouring. We can tell you what is in it, how strong it is, what it tastes like and who it is wrong for. What it does inside a human body is not something a shop is permitted to tell you, and anyone who does is either guessing or breaking the rules.

This is the label you can actually buy right now

MediCBD is one of three names the same manufacturer puts on this identical gummy bear. The others are Multitrance and Bubbly Billy Buds, and the recipe, the strength, the bag weight and the ingredient declaration are the same across all three. What is worth knowing on this page is the practical consequence. Of the three labels, this one currently has the widest availability: Passion Fruit and Watermelon are both in stock, while the Multitrance version has no flavour available and Bubbly Billy Buds has one.

Strawberry is unavailable under all three labels at the moment, so if that is the flavour you want, none of the three bags will get it to you today.

The three flavours

Same gelatine base, same thirty milligrams a bear, three flavours. Nothing else varies between them.

Passion Fruit is the sharpest and does the most to cover the faint bitterness a thirty milligram bear carries. Watermelon is sweeter with a green note behind the fruit. Strawberry is the most conventional of the three and the one where the CBD is easiest to taste, because there is less competing with it.

What is in the bag, and what is not on the label

The declaration published for these runs: sugar, glucose syrup, gelling agent gelatine, modified starch, an entry that reads vors, and colourings given as curcumin, tartrazine, patent blue v, indigotin and black carrot. European retailers publish a different colour set for the same sweet listing E102, E110 and E133.

Gelatine is the point most people need. These are not vegetarian and not vegan, and neither UK page selling them says so plainly.

Tartrazine, which is E102, appears on both versions of the declaration and carries a specific labelling requirement in UK law. What is missing is an allergen statement. Neither UK page publishes one, and nor does the maker in the material we can see. On a confectionery product that is a gap rather than a technicality, so ask us before ordering if it matters and we will get the current panel from the supplier.

The bear count is similarly soft. One UK retailer infers ten from the arithmetic rather than stating it, and no source we found states it outright for this label. We are confirming the exact unit that ships against this line rather than printing a number and hoping.

What eating one is like

Firm and chewy. Gelatine sets harder than pectin does, so these have more resistance than a plant-set gummy and they cope better with a warm room.

Thirty milligrams in a sweet this size is enough to taste. There is a faint grassy bitterness that turns up at the end rather than the beginning, and how much you notice it depends almost entirely on which flavour you picked. Passion Fruit buries it. Strawberry does not.

The colours are strong, which is the job the colouring list is doing. A naturally coloured gummy is a duller looking sweet and there is a straightforward trade there that you get to make once the declaration is in front of you.

One bear is a slow chew rather than a mouthful. That suits a product where the sensible unit is one.

The rest of the MediCBD range

MediCBD is not only gummies, and the strengths across its range are far enough apart that they are not really substitutes for one another. Nobody puts them side by side, so here they are.

The pattern is worth noticing. The gum is a small, discreet, repeatable format at a low figure per piece. The tea sits in the middle. The gummy bag holds the highest figure in the range and the highest amount in a single item by a wide margin.

Who these are wrong for

Anyone who came here because the brand name suggested something clinical. It does not, and if that is what you are looking for, a CBD sweet is not it and a shop is not the right place to ask.

Anyone eating vegetarian or vegan. Gelatine, in every one of the three labels.

Anyone starting out. Thirty milligrams in a single bear is the strongest per-piece figure in anything we stock, and a gummy does not divide neatly. The chewing gum in the range above is a far more sensible first step.

And anyone wanting Strawberry specifically. It is unavailable under all three labels at the moment, and the other two flavours are not substitutes if you dislike sharp or green flavours.
