The larger tub holds the gentler sweets

Two Orange County tubs sit next to each other on a shelf. One says 1200mg, the other says 1600mg. Every instinct says the second is the stronger product. Per sweet, it is roughly a third of the strength.

The 1,200mg tub is a small tub: 20 to 30 sweets, each carrying 40mg to 60mg. This 1,600mg tub is a large tub: 70 to 100 sweets, each carrying 16mg to 23mg. More CBD in total, spread far thinner.

That matters because people reach for the higher number expecting a stronger sweet and get the opposite, or avoid the higher number thinking it is too much and miss the gentler option. The figures below come from the manufacturer's own listing and two independent retailers, and no page selling either tub puts them side by side.

Read the tub number as how much you are getting, and the shape as how strong each one is. Those are two different questions and only one of them is printed on the front.

Every shape in the large tub, with what is actually published

The per-shape figures for this tub exist, but they are scattered one per retailer across the web and nobody assembles them. Gummy Bears come from the manufacturer's own page, Cherries and Strawberries from two separate specialist retailers.

We are going to be straight about the gaps as well. No published figure could be found for Mixed Fruit Cubes or Fizzy Peach Rings at this tub size. Rather than interpolating a plausible number and presenting it as fact, the table says so. Everything in the range is in stock at the moment.

On character, the five behave much as they do in the smaller tub. Cherries and Strawberries are the most intensely fruity and carry the clearest hemp note underneath. Bears and Cubes are milder and mixed fruit. Peach Rings are the sharpest, with a fizzy sugar coating that cuts through everything else.

Why this tub sits differently against FSA advice

The Food Standards Agency advises that healthy adults keep their CBD intake from food supplements to no more than 10mg a day. That is precautionary consumer advice, not a legal limit, and it was revised down from an earlier figure of 70mg, announced in October 2023.

This is where the large tub genuinely changes the conversation. A 16mg gummy bear sits a little above that advisory figure. A 60mg sweet from the small tub is six times it. Same brand, same range, very different positions relative to the same piece of guidance.

One retailer selling this exact tub still tells buyers not to exceed a 70mg daily figure, describing it as the FSA recommended limit. That number was withdrawn nearly three years ago and it was never a limit, it was advice. Repeating it on an edible, where the guidance actually applies, is the least helpful place to get it wrong.

Novel Foods, and the brand's own inconsistency

Ingestible CBD in the UK falls under the Novel Foods regime administered by the FSA, and that covers gummies. Products that have completed the process appear on the FSA public list. Not one page ranking for this tub mentions the regime, which has now been true of every ingestible ranking set examined in this range.

We apply the same discipline here as on the smaller tub. The regime applies because this is a food. We have not independently verified this line's position on the FSA public list, so we are not claiming it holds a validated authorisation, and neither should anyone else without showing you the entry.

There is a second inconsistency worth naming, and it belongs to the manufacturer rather than a retailer. Orange County's gummies collection page states the UK THC rule correctly, saying products must contain no more than 1mg of THC per product. Its own large tub product page states no legal position at all, offering only a note that lab reports show no detectable traces to the sixth decimal. Same brand, two pages, two standards. The collection page is the one that gets it right.

What is in them, and who a large tub actually suits

These are pectin set rather than gelatine set, which makes them vegan, and they are published as gluten free. The ingredients run to broad spectrum hemp derived CBD, glucose syrup, sugar, invert sugar, citric and malic acid, pectin, sorbitol, fruit juice concentrate and apple, with colour from black carrot concentrate, spirulina and turmeric rather than synthetic dyes.

Broad spectrum keeps a wide set of hemp compounds while the THC is removed in processing, which leaves a faint earthy note under the fruit. In a 16mg bear that note is much less prominent than in a 60mg sweet, simply because there is less extract in each one.

As for who a large tub suits: anyone who would rather take a small amount and adjust than commit to a strong sweet, and anyone who eats them regularly enough that a tub of twenty disappears quickly. It is also the more forgiving option if you are still working out what suits you, because the increments are smaller.

It suits you less well if you want a low total in the house, or if you dislike the idea of a large open tub of sweets sitting around. Pectin gummies keep best sealed, dry and out of direct sun, and a tub of a hundred will be open considerably longer than a tub of twenty.

The whole range, ranked by strength per sweet

If you need the per-sweet figure for a specific shape and it matters to you, note that Cubes and Peach Rings have no published figure at this tub size, so Bears, Cherries or Strawberries are the ones where you know exactly what you are getting.
