Set the two pouches side by side and the only differences are quantities.

Same recipe. Same acid coating of citric and malic acid buffered with E331. Same four colours. Same CBD isolate at ninety nine point nine per cent. Same flat two-tone ring, same size, same chew.

What changes is that this pouch holds thirty rings with ten milligrams in each, and the larger one holds fifty with twenty milligrams in each.

That sounds obvious written down, and it is genuinely not obvious from the listings, which present them as two products with two names and two descriptions. Plenty of people will compare the pages expecting to find that one is sourer, or softer, or made differently. None of that is true.

So the decision is purely about how much you want at a time. Ten milligrams in a ring, or twenty. Nothing else about the sweet is on the table.

The Hempthy entry tier, across formats

Hempthy makes six products at three hundred milligrams, and looking at them together tells you something about how the brand is built.

The three we have confirmed all hold thirty pieces at ten milligrams each. That is the same per-piece amount arriving in a hard gum, a fizzy bear and a peach ring, which are three quite different sweets. The brand has standardised its entry range around the unit rather than around the pouch, which is why the format changes and the amount in your hand does not.

What is in the pouch

CBD isolate at ninety nine point nine per cent, American sourced and made up in the UK, with glucose syrup, sugar, corn starch, water, citric and malic acid, sodium citrate as a buffer, flavourings and four colours.

Two of those colours, E102 and E129, are among the six that UK law requires to be sold with a statement about children's activity and attention. Sulphites are declared, in the glucose syrup. This is the sixth Hempthy product we have written up and the sixth time not one UK retailer selling it mentions them, which is why it appears here again rather than being assumed as known.

Vegan friendly, stated THC free, and made with isolate so there are no other cannabinoids and no terpenes in it at all.

What ten milligrams in a ring is like

A wide flat hoop with a granular sour dusting. The acid arrives first and strongly, because a ring puts a lot of surface on your tongue at once, then fades within seconds into a soft, slightly floral peach sweetness that is more tinned peach than fresh.

At ten milligrams of isolate there is nothing at all of the CBD in the taste. Isolate carries no terpenes, so what you taste is sugar, acid and flavouring.

The difference between this and the twenty milligram ring is not something you can detect by eating one. They are the same sweet. What differs is that this pouch is built around one a day for a month and the larger one is not, which is the practical argument for it rather than any sensory one.

Rings press together in a sealed pouch more than bears do, especially if they have been somewhere warm. They separate without much trouble and the coating survives it.

Who should skip this pouch

Anyone who would rather avoid tartrazine and allura red. Switching flavour within the fizzy range will not help, because the colour declaration is the same across all of it. The hard gums at the same three hundred milligram tier are the way out.

Anyone avoiding sulphites, declared across the whole Hempthy sweet range without exception.

Anyone who already knows ten milligrams is not enough for them. The larger pouch is the same ring with twice as much in it, and that is a straightforward swap rather than a compromise.

And anyone who does not actually like sour. A ring carries more coating per bite than a bear does, so this is not the gentle way into the fizzy range even at the gentler strength.
