Euphoria Cannabis Cookies 120mg, Pot of 12

These contain wheat and rye, whatever the listings say

The trade description that feeds most of the UK retail listings for this product calls it vegan and gluten free. The second half of that is wrong, and it is wrong in a way that matters to a specific group of people.

Euphoria's own product data for these cookies gives the composition as cereal biscuits with Cannabis Sativa L., containing seeds of Cannabis Sativa L. and whole wheat and rye flour. Wheat and rye both contain gluten. The European allergen note published for the same product goes further and states that the cereal mixture contains gluten and may carry traces of eggs, milk, sesame, soy, sulphur dioxide, peanuts and nuts.

We are not going to reconcile those two statements, because they do not reconcile. We are going to publish the manufacturer's composition, flag the trade claim as unreliable, and tell you plainly that if you avoid gluten these are not for you.

The vegan half of the claim we simply cannot confirm either way, since the possible traces list includes eggs and milk and nobody has published a full ingredient panel. We have asked our supplier for one. Until it arrives we would rather leave a gap on this page than fill it with something we cannot stand behind.

None of the three UK pages we examined selling these declares an allergen at all. That is the state of the category, and it is the reason a page like this one is worth writing.

Twelve cookies, ten milligrams in each

The arithmetic on the label is straightforward and it is the same across every flavour. Euphoria states twelve cookies per pot at ten milligrams of CBD each, giving the hundred and twenty milligrams in the product name. The brand also gives an eighteen month shelf life.

Weight is where it falls apart. Euphoria's own data gives a net weight of a hundred and twenty grams and a gross weight of a hundred and seventy seven. Two European sellers publish a hundred and ten grams for the same pot. A third publishes a hundred grams for the Chocolate variant. Four figures, one product, and nobody in the market explains the discrepancy.

Our reading is that the hundred and twenty gram net figure from the manufacturer is the one to trust and that the others are either older packaging or a confusion between net and gross. We are not going to present that as settled, and we have asked our supplier to confirm it.

One number worth holding in mind while you read the rest of this page: the Food Standards Agency advises healthy adults to take no more than ten milligrams of CBD a day from food supplements. That is one cookie. It is precautionary advice rather than a legal limit and nothing here is dosage guidance, but a pot of twelve is a twelve day pot by that reckoning rather than an afternoon's biscuits, and no page selling them says so.

The four flavours, and what those names actually mean

Two of the four are named after cannabis strains, and this is worth being clear about before anyone reads more into it than is there. Hashish and White Widow describe the flavour direction of the biscuit. They do not describe a different cannabinoid content, a different extract or a different anything. All four are ten milligrams of CBD per cookie on the same cereal base.

What changes between them is what is baked into that base: cocoa, chocolate pieces, vanilla, or nothing at all beyond the hemp seeds themselves.

What they are like to eat

Think digestive biscuit rather than bakery cookie. These are dry, crunchy cereal biscuits with visible hemp seeds through them, closer to a wholemeal breakfast biscuit than to anything soft or fudgy. The wheat and rye base gives them a proper nutty, slightly savoury body that most CBD confectionery does not have.

The hemp comes through as a green, seedy note rather than a strong herbal one, because the seeds are the texture as much as the flavour. Original is the least sweet and the most biscuit-like. Chocolate is the one people who want a cookie will actually want.

Euphoria's own serving suggestion, which is a genuinely odd thing to find on a CBD product, is to break them into cereal and mix with fruit. That tells you something about how the biscuit is built, and it is a reasonable description of the texture. It is a less reasonable idea if you follow it with a bowl of three or four of them, since each one carries ten milligrams.

They are also a slow eat. A dry cereal biscuit is not something most people put away in one bite, which suits a format where one cookie is the unit you are meant to stop at.

Against the rest of the Euphoria bakery

Euphoria makes several things that look like this one on a shelf and are not the same product at all. The distinction that matters is whether a milligram figure appears on the label, and on most of the range it does not.

This pot is one of the few Euphoria bakes that states a CBD figure. Its stablemates in the Cannabis Airlines line, and the hash brownie, are hemp products built on seeds and protein with no cannabinoid figure published by anybody. Neither approach is wrong. They are just answers to different questions, and the listings rarely make that clear.

Legality, and the language we have left out

Euphoria's own site carries a line worth reading carefully. It says the products it lists are legal in its country. That is a Czech statement about Czechia, not a UK compliance claim, and it should not be read as one just because it appears next to a product you can buy here.

The UK test on controlled cannabinoids is one milligram per container, applied to the container itself rather than to a portion or expressed as a percentage of anything. The percentage figure that circulates in this category, including in parts of our own supply chain, governs how much a licensed grower may have in a standing hemp crop. It is a farming rule and it has never been the consumer test. Euphoria states these cookies as THC free.

Because there is a real CBD ingredient here rather than a flavouring, the Novel Foods regime is the relevant one for ingestible CBD in Britain. We have not verified an authorisation for this specific line and so we claim none for it. Not one page in the ranking set raises the question.

You will also notice that we have not told you these cookies are relaxing, or slow release, or good for your wellbeing, all of which appear in the trade copy. CBD is sold here as a food supplement and a seller may not attach outcomes to one. We would rather describe the biscuit. Everything on our shelves is eighteen plus, which is more than any UK page selling this product currently says.

Who should not buy these

Anyone avoiding gluten. This is the whole reason the correction sits at the top of the page rather than the bottom. The base is wheat and rye.

Anyone with a nut, sesame, soy, egg or milk concern, at least until we have the full panel from the supplier. The published trace list covers all of them and no complete declaration exists in the market.

Anyone expecting a soft bakery cookie. These are dry cereal biscuits and the Cannabis Airlines line is the softer product if that is what you came for.

And anyone wanting a specific flavour today. Original is the only one currently available of the four, so if Chocolate or White Widow is the reason you are here, it is worth waiting rather than substituting.
