What Moroccan actually means here

It is not a statement about where the material came from. This is a European CBD product, and the word is doing the same work that Neapolitan does on ice cream: naming a style.

The style it names is dry sift, which is the traditional North African method and the one that produces the pliable, brown, sieved hash most people picture when they hear the word. The character of that style is what the name is promising, not a geographical origin.

Two things in our own range confirm the word is a label rather than a description of content. Euphoria also sells an Afghan hash at exactly the same 25 per cent, so two traditional style names sit at one concentration. And Professor Herb, a different manufacturer entirely, uses Moroccan across both its CBD and its H4CBD lines, which we cover on that product's own page.

So when you are choosing between hashes with country names on them, the name tells you roughly what it should look like, feel like and smell like. It does not tell you where it was made, how strong it is, or how it was produced. The next section is about the one that actually matters.

Dry sift and ice water, and why the method sets the percentage

Hash is resin separated from plant material. There is more than one way to do that separation, and which one is used puts a ceiling on how concentrated the finished product can be. This is the single most useful thing to understand about a hash shelf and nobody explains it.

Start with why separation concentrates anything at all. The cannabinoids and terpenes in the plant are not spread evenly through it. They are held in trichomes, the tiny resin glands on the surface of the flower, which are described as carrying more than 90 per cent of both. Get the trichomes off the plant and you have concentrated almost everything worth having into a fraction of the weight.

Dry sift, which is the Moroccan style, does that mechanically and dry. Cured flower is tumbled or rubbed over fine mesh screens and the trichome heads fall through. No water, no solvent, and it is quick: yields of around 5 to 10 per cent from cured flower in under an hour. The trade-off is that screens cannot tell a resin head from a fragment of leaf, so plant material comes through with it. The finished hash is resin diluted by that debris.

Ice water extraction, which is what bubble hash means, works differently. The material is agitated in ice water so the trichome heads freeze, become brittle and snap off, then the water is filtered through progressively finer mesh bags and the collected resin is dried. It is slower, around 48 hours, and the yield is higher at roughly 15 to 20 per cent from fresh-frozen material. More importantly the separation is cleaner: the heads come away on their own and plant matter is largely left behind.

That difference is the whole reason the numbers on our shelf look the way they do. Euphoria's Moroccan is 25 per cent. Its Bubble hash is 40. That is not one being a better product than the other, it is dry sift carrying plant material through and ice water not.

It also tells you what to expect in the hand. Dry sift is generally softer, more pliable and more aromatic in a plant-like way, because some of the plant is still there. Ice water hash tends to be drier, cleaner tasting and more purely resinous.

Twenty-five per cent is the reference point

Percentages on a hash shelf are hard to place without something to compare them against, so here is the benchmark.

The trade's own published ranges put CBD hash generally somewhere between about 18 and 70 per cent, and CBD flower between about 10 and 25 per cent. Hash is normally described as carrying two to four times what the flower it came from carried.

At 25 per cent, this pot sits squarely inside that normal hash band. That makes it the reference product in the range rather than an outlier in either direction.

It is worth contrasting that with the other end of the same brand's ladder. We have written separately about Euphoria's Amnesia at 6 per cent, which sits below the ordinary range for flower and therefore inverts the usual reason for buying hash at all. This one does not. At 25 per cent it does what hash is supposed to do, which is give you more cannabinoid in less material.

Converted, the pot holds about 250mg of CBD. Whether that suits you depends entirely on what you are used to, and we give no guidance on amounts, but it is a considerably more conventional starting point than either end of the range.

No solvents anywhere, and what that does and does not mean

Worth a short note because solvent residue is a genuine quality question in the wider concentrate category and it does not apply here.

Neither dry sift nor ice water extraction uses a solvent. One is mechanical and dry, the other uses water and cold. That is different from the concentrates elsewhere in our range: Euphoria's crumble, for instance, is CO2 extracted, and hydrocarbon extraction with butane is common across the industry, with the thoroughness of the purge being the standing quality question on anything made that way.

So a traditional hash sidesteps that question entirely. It is a physical separation rather than a chemical one.

What it does not sidestep is everything else. Dry sift carries plant material through by design, so the quality of the starting flower matters far more than it does for a purified extract, and there is nothing in the process that removes anything undesirable that was on the plant to begin with. No solvent is a real advantage and it is not the same thing as purity.

Euphoria states the material as pure Cannabis Sativa with 25 per cent full spectrum CBD and terpenes, and lists no other ingredients. We take that at face value while noting, as we do on every full spectrum product, that full spectrum is the grade which deliberately retains the plant's wider profile. That is exactly why the per-batch paperwork matters more here than on an isolate, and why we publish no THC figure for any full spectrum line until we hold a certificate of analysis for the batch. The UK consumer test is an absolute quantity in the container rather than a percentage, and you will see percentages quoted on pages selling this product that come from rules about growing rather than about selling.

Who should not buy this

If you want the cleanest, most purely resinous hash we carry, the ice water product is the one to choose, and the section above explains why rather than asking you to take it on trust.

If you are new to pressed products, 25 per cent is a real concentration and a piece the size you might instinctively break off carries more than you would expect. The gentler end of the ladder exists for exactly this.

If you were expecting an actual Moroccan product, this is a European CBD hash made in the traditional Moroccan style. The name describes the style, and we would rather be clear about that than let it imply otherwise.
