Afghan and Moroccan are two traditions, not one

Both start in the same place. Dried plant material is sieved so the resin heads fall away from the leaf, and what collects underneath is a loose powder. Every traditional hash in this range begins there, and our Moroccan listing goes through that stage properly.

What happens next is where the two part company, and it is the whole difference.

The Moroccan approach presses that powder into a slab with comparatively little heat and little working. The result stays relatively light, running blonde to mid brown, and stays fairly hard and crumbly. You break a piece off rather than pull it.

The Afghan approach keeps going. The sieved resin is worked at length under heat and pressure, traditionally kneaded by hand and sometimes with a little liquid added to help it come together, until the loose powder becomes a dense homogeneous mass. It is then pressed into slabs or rolled into balls, and in Afghanistan often stamped. The extended working darkens it considerably, frequently to near black on the outside, and leaves it soft enough at room temperature to take a fingerprint.

So the same resin, handled two ways, gives you a dry crumbly blonde slab or a dark pliable one. Neither is better. They are different products with different handling and different character, and calling them both traditional pressed hash, as most sellers do and as our own Moroccan page does in passing, hides the only thing the names were ever telling you.

How that shows up in the pot

You can tell which tradition a hash is imitating before you read the label, and with these two it is immediate.

This one arrives dark. Not brown with dark patches but genuinely dark through, with the near-black surface that long working produces. It is noticeably softer than the Moroccan at the same strength, and warms and yields under a thumb rather than snapping.

The aroma follows the colour. Extended working with heat drives off the lighter, brighter volatiles and leaves the heavier ones, so an Afghan-style press reads deeper and more resinous than a dry-sift slab does, with earth and a slightly spiced, incense-like edge rather than the greener, hay-like top note you get from something barely worked.

Handling matters more here than with a harder hash. A pliable press picks up warmth from your hands quickly and will mark and smear if you keep hold of it. Keep it cool and it stays workable rather than sticky.

Euphoria publishes no aroma description of its own for any product in this range, so what is above is a description of what the Afghan style produces rather than a claim about a specific batch.

The strength tier Euphoria hides in its own trade codes

This is not published anywhere, including by Euphoria, and it is genuinely useful once you see it.

Every product in this range carries a trade code, and the middle of that code is not a strain reference. It is a tier. The 9 and 19 per cent products carry STRO. The 25 per cent products, this one included, carry EXTR. The 40 per cent products carry ULTI. The 6 per cent entry products carry no tier marker at all.

Read as Strong, Extreme and Ultimate, that is a four-step ladder the customer-facing listings never mention, and it tells you how the maker itself thinks about its own range. It also explains why 25 per cent, which our Moroccan listing reasonably calls the reference point of the category, sits in a tier called Extreme: the ladder was built around the 40 per cent product at the top rather than around what is typical elsewhere.

One more thing changes with the tier. Every listing from 6 through 25 per cent states that each pot contains one gram. Afghan is also a strain name, which Moroccan never is

A small point that causes a surprising amount of confusion when people search for this.

Moroccan only ever describes a method and a place. Nobody breeds a plant called Moroccan. Afghan, on the other hand, does double duty: Afghani is one of the foundational names in cannabis breeding, a broad-leaf type that sits behind an enormous number of modern varieties, and it is entirely separate from Afghan as a description of how hash is made.

On this product the word is doing the second job. It describes the pressing tradition, not a plant variety, and Euphoria states only that the material is cannabis sativa. Anyone arriving here after reading about the Afghani strain is in a different conversation.

The percentage, and the figure we are not going to work with

Twenty-five per cent describes the CBD content, and the listing describes it as full spectrum with terpenes, meaning the extract deliberately retains the other compounds from the plant rather than isolating one.

Full spectrum is also why we are careful here. The distributor prints the same THC percentage on every listing in this range regardless of strength, which our Jamaican Dream listing examines in detail. We are not going to convert that percentage into a milligram figure for a one gram pot, and we are not going to tell you it comfortably clears the limit, because doing arithmetic on a marketing figure is not the same as knowing.

The UK test is a maximum of one milligram of controlled cannabinoids in the whole container, whatever its size. Establishing whether any individual pot meets it needs the certificate of analysis for that batch, which we have requested for the full spectrum lines in this part of the range. What this is, legally, stated plainly

This is hemp material sold in a form intended to be burned, and that deserves saying without decoration.

It is not H4CBD. Nothing here is semi-synthetic and nothing has been hydrogenated, unlike the Euphoria solids sold under that name, which are a different thing entirely and are covered on their own pages.

What it is instead is smokable hemp, and the position on that in the UK is genuinely unsettled rather than clearly permitted. The industrial hemp licensing regime covers stalk and seed, which is not the part of the plant a pressed resin comes from. The owner of this shop has decided to list this part of the range, and we would rather set the position out honestly than describe a pressed hemp resin as an aromatic curiosity and hope nobody asks.

Who should choose something else

Anyone who wants a hash that stays firm. This style is worked to be pliable and it will soften in a warm room or a warm hand. If you want something that snaps, the Moroccan at the same strength is the one.

Anyone new to this part of the range. Twenty-five per cent sits in the tier Euphoria calls Extreme, and the 6 and 9 per cent products exist precisely so that people do not start here.

Anyone who wants certainty about the THC content today. The published percentage is identical across every strength in the range, which tells you it is a specification rather than a measurement, and the batch certificate is what would settle it.

Anyone expecting a strain rather than a style. Afghan here is a description of craft, and the material is stated only as cannabis sativa.
