Professor Herb Premium Hemp Blend is a 24g resealable pouch of finely milled industrial hemp biomass, infused with terpenes and flavourings, containing no nicotine and no tobacco. It arrives pre-ground, so it is ready to use straight from the pouch with no grinder needed. Here is the part that no other page about it mentions: the manufacturer's own range description calls this a herbal tea infusion, while every UK shop currently ranking for it sells it as a tobacco substitute. Both uses are real, they suit completely different buyers, and the difference is worth understanding before you choose a flavour. The published cannabinoid figures disagree too, and that is dealt with below.

A herbal tea, a rolling blend, or both

Start here, because it changes what you should expect from the pouch.

Professor Herb describes the Premium Hemp Blend range on its own site as a finely milled herbal tea infusion made from industrial hemp biomass, to be brewed and drunk, caffeine free. The directions the brand publishes match that description exactly: roughly a gram of blend to 250ml of boiling water, left to stand for ten minutes, strained, then drunk. The pouch itself is printed with a servings count rather than anything about rolling.

Now look at how it is actually sold. Every UK retailer we examined lists it as a tobacco substitute or a flower alternative, files it in a smoking or herbal blend aisle, and leads on the fact that it is pre-ground and ready to roll. Three of those same shops then reprint the boiling-water tea directions underneath, apparently without noticing the mismatch.

Neither camp is lying. It is milled plant material, and milled plant material can be brewed or rolled. What is missing everywhere is anybody telling you that the two framings exist, which matters because the buyer who wants a warm drink in the evening and the buyer who wants something to roll without tobacco are not the same person and will not be equally happy with this pouch.

Our position is simple. We list it in the hemp and hash aisle because that is how the UK market buys it and how our customers search for it. If what you actually want is a hemp drink, we stock a product built for that job and we would rather send you there, which is covered further down.

All thirteen flavours, in one place

No page currently ranking for this product publishes the full range. The best of them lists ten. One lists eight under a heading that says six. One lists nine names that mostly belong to a different Professor Herb product entirely, the briquette hash range. One widely read review page lists six flavours, none of which is a real variant of this blend apart from the plain one.

We carry thirteen. The brand also runs an Orange Creamsicle limited edition that we do not stock, so if that is the one you are after, we are not the shop for it and we would rather say so than let you find out at the basket.

One honest framing before the table. The flavour comes from added terpenes and flavourings sitting on a hemp base, not from the hemp itself, so every flavoured variant tastes of that flavour over the same grassy, slightly savoury foundation. The strain-style names describe the terpene profile the blend imitates. They do not mean the material came from that plant, and they do not predict how anything will feel.

FlavourFamilyCharacter
Classic OrganicUnflavouredThe plain base with nothing added. Earthy and grassy with a dry, faintly savoury finish closer to roasted seeds than to anything sweet
Apache HazeHerbal and citrusA haze-style profile, bright and sharp over the hemp base rather than sweet
Havana GoldWarm and earthyThe richest of the set, warm and slightly spiced, the closest in character to the plain blend
LemonCitrusClean, sharp lemon peel. The most cutting flavour here and the one that sits furthest from the hemp base
Cali OrangeCitrusRounder and sweeter than the lemon, more orange flesh than peel
BlueberryBerrySoft, jammy and dark. One of the more restrained flavours
Cherry BombBerrySweet cherry with a boiled-sweet edge, louder than the blueberry
Grape SodaConfectioneryPurple grape candy rather than fruit, unmistakably a soft-drink flavour
BubblegumConfectioneryPink bubblegum, sweet and simple, the least subtle in the range
Rainbow CandyConfectioneryMixed fruit sweets, sharp and sugary
PineappleTropicalBright tropical pineapple with a tart edge behind it
Gelato 41DessertCreamy and sweet with a citrus lift, the dessert profile of the range
Girl Scout CookiesDessert and earthSweet and faintly minty over a heavier earthy base, the least sugary of the dessert profiles

Why the cannabinoid figures on this pouch disagree

This is the most confused thing about the product online, and it is worth untangling properly.

Professor Herb currently publishes no cannabinoid figure on its own Premium Hemp Blend product pages or on its range page. Retailers, meanwhile, publish three different numbers. One shop prints one figure in its page title and a different, lower one in its own feature list further down the same page. Another prints a higher figure again. A widely read review site says the opposite, describing the product as having minimal active compounds.

The arithmetic explains most of it. One listing states the blend at five per cent, which on a 24g pouch works out at the middle figure that most shops quote. Five per cent of the older, smaller 20g pouch gives the lower figure. So the lower number is almost certainly the previous pouch size being reprinted on 24g listings by shops that changed the weight in the title and not in the body. That also explains why several listings still carry the old weight in their web address while the title says 24g. The highest of the three figures reconciles with neither and we cannot account for it.

So here is what we will and will not tell you. We will not print a milligram figure that the manufacturer no longer prints, and we will not repeat a number that three other shops disagree about. If the cannabinoid content is the deciding factor for you, ask us before you order and we will tell you exactly what documentation we hold from our distributors. On a product whose maker positions it as a flavoured herbal blend rather than a strength-led one, we would gently suggest that flavour and format matter more here than a number on a label.

Rolling with it, and the thing nobody warns you about

If you are using it the way the UK market sells it, a few practical notes that the ranking pages leave out.

It is already milled, and finely. You do not need a grinder, and running it through one will only reduce it to dust that draws badly. The pouch is designed to be used straight open.

Now the honest part. This blend is noticeably dry, drier than rolling tobacco, because it contains none of the humectants that keep tobacco pliable. That is the single most consistent real-world criticism of it and only one shop we found even alludes to it, in passing, while suggesting a humidity block. A dry blend is harder to roll evenly, tends to run rather than burn steadily, and can taste sharper than the flavour on the pouch suggests. Keeping the pouch properly resealed matters more than it would with tobacco, and a two-way humidity pack in the storage tin makes a real difference if you go through a pouch slowly.

It also burns quicker than tobacco, so expect to use more of it than you would expect by eye. Many people mix it with something else rather than using it alone, which the brand itself suggests is fine.

You will need papers and tips, which do not come with it. It is a loose blend in a pouch and nothing else.

Where hemp smoking material sits in UK law

Six pages about this product, six assertions that it is compliant, and not one explanation of what the actual test is. Since we are a stockist rather than the brand, we would rather set out the regime and let you judge.

First, the number you will see quoted almost everywhere. Several listings for this pouch state a THC percentage as though it demonstrated legality. That percentage comes from Home Office industrial hemp cultivation licensing, and it governs what a licensed grower's standing crop may contain in a field. It is a farming rule. It is not the test applied to a finished product sold to a consumer.

The consumer test is a quantity, not a proportion. UK exempt-product provisions allow no more than 1mg of controlled cannabinoids, meaning THC, THCV and CBN, in the container, regardless of how large the container is or what percentage that works out at. A percentage claim cannot establish compliance on its own, because the same percentage produces a different milligram answer in every pouch size it is applied to.

Second, and specific to this format, the Home Office industrial hemp licence covers the stalk, fibre and seed of the plant. Hemp leaf and flower are not within its scope, which is why smokable hemp material occupies genuinely contested ground in the UK in a way that a CBD oil or a vape pod does not. The material in this pouch is stated by the trade as imported Italian-grown industrial hemp biomass, which is a different supply route from domestic cultivation, and we are not in a position to verify a European supply chain from a distributor listing.

We are telling you this because it is true and because you will not read it on the pages selling this product. This line is stocked as a deliberate decision rather than by accident. If the regulatory position matters to you, and on this format it reasonably might, factor it in before you order.

Everything here is 18+ only, and we do not make any claim about what hemp does for anybody.

How it compares with the rest of what we stock

The useful question is not whether this pouch is good. It is whether loose blend is the right format for you at all, and that is a comparison no brand-owned site is ever going to publish.

If the tea framing was the appealing one, Professor Herb makes an actual hemp tea and we stock it. It is built for brewing, and you will get a better result from a product designed for the job than from a rolling blend that also happens to be brewable.

If you like the idea but not the rolling, hemp cigarettes come ready made and there is nothing to prepare. If you want something more concentrated in a much smaller amount, the briquette hash sits at the other end of the aisle entirely.

Who should not buy this

If you want a hemp drink, buy the tea rather than this. The brand's own range description points that way, but a product engineered for brewing will give you a cleaner result than a rolling blend with brewing instructions attached.

If you have never rolled anything, this is an awkward place to start. It is dry, it runs, and it is less forgiving than tobacco. Ready-rolled hemp cigarettes get you to the same place with none of the learning.

If you are choosing on cannabinoid strength, this is the wrong product to agonise over. The maker does not publish a figure, the shops that do disagree, and the range is built around flavour rather than potency. A CBD oil or a vape pod will give you a stated milligram figure you can actually rely on.

If you are expecting anything like cannabis, you will be disappointed. It is flavoured industrial hemp with no nicotine and no tobacco in it, and that is the whole of what it is.

And if the regulatory position on smokable hemp set out above gives you pause, take that seriously rather than talking yourself out of it. Our hash, oil and vape aisles are all more settled ground.

One last practical note: availability moves flavour by flavour at distributor level rather than across the whole range at once, so check the selector for the one you want rather than assuming the full thirteen are ready to ship on any given day.

Frequently asked questions

Is Professor Herb Premium Hemp Blend meant to be smoked or brewed as a tea?
Both framings are in circulation, which is the confusing part. Professor Herb's own range description calls it a finely milled herbal tea infusion and publishes brewing directions, while every UK retailer sells it as a tobacco substitute and leads on it being pre-ground and ready to roll. It is milled hemp biomass, so it physically works either way, but if brewing is what you want we would point you at a product built for that.
How many flavours does the Premium Hemp Blend come in?
We carry thirteen: Classic Organic, Apache Haze, Havana Gold, Lemon, Cali Orange, Blueberry, Cherry Bomb, Grape Soda, Bubblegum, Rainbow Candy, Pineapple, Gelato 41 and Girl Scout Cookies. Professor Herb also runs an Orange Creamsicle limited edition that we do not stock. Most pages about this product list eight to ten and several list flavour names that belong to a different Professor Herb range altogether.
How much CBD is in a 24g Professor Herb hemp blend pouch?
Nobody agrees, and Professor Herb does not currently publish a figure on its own product pages. Three retailer figures are in circulation, spread across roughly 400mg, and the lowest of them appears to be the older 20g pouch's number reprinted on 24g listings. We will not publish a number that the maker does not, so ask us and we will tell you what documentation we actually hold.
Do you need a grinder for Professor Herb hemp blend?
No. It arrives finely milled and ready to use straight from the pouch, which is one of the genuine practical advantages of the format. Putting it through a grinder tends to reduce it to dust that draws poorly, so it is worth resisting the habit if you are coming from flower.
Why is hemp blend so much drier than rolling tobacco?
Because it contains none of the humectants that are added to tobacco to keep it pliable. It is plant material, terpenes and flavourings, and nothing that holds moisture. The practical consequences are that it is harder to roll evenly, it tends to run rather than burn steadily, and it goes quicker than you would expect. Resealing the pouch properly matters, and a two-way humidity pack helps if you use a pouch slowly.
Does Professor Herb hemp blend contain nicotine or tobacco?
Neither. The stated ingredients are hemp biomass, terpenes and flavourings, and the pack is explicit that there is no nicotine and no tobacco in it. That is a statement about what is in the pouch, and we make no claim about it being a route away from anything else.
Why do listings for this pouch quote a THC percentage as proof it is legal?
Because the figure is widely copied and widely misunderstood. That percentage comes from Home Office industrial hemp cultivation licensing and governs a licensed grower's standing crop in a field. The consumer test is different and is a quantity, not a proportion: no more than 1mg of controlled cannabinoids in the container, whatever size the container is.
Is smokable hemp treated differently from CBD oil under UK law?
Yes, and it is worth knowing. The Home Office industrial hemp licence covers the stalk, fibre and seed of the plant, not the leaf and flower, which is why smoking material made from hemp sits on more contested ground than an oil or a vape pod does. The material in this pouch is stated by the trade as imported Italian-grown industrial hemp biomass.
Can you mix Professor Herb blend with something else?
Yes, and plenty of people do rather than using it on its own. The brand presents mixing as a normal way to use it. If you are finding the dryness difficult or the burn too quick, blending it with a moister base is the usual answer and will also soften the flavour, which some of the sweeter variants benefit from.
