Our distributor publishes a fuller specification for these than most rolling papers get: 50 sheets per booklet, 50 booklets per box, 108mm by 44mm, organic hemp with a natural gum line, completely unbleached and free of additives.

The first of those numbers only becomes interesting next to the competition. A UK tobacconist publishes Rizla Natura king size slim at 32 leaves per booklet, at 13.5gsm, at 108 by 44mm. RAW's king size slim booklets are 32 leaves as well. Thirty-two is the mass-market standard for this format, and it has been for years.

Tokies puts 50 in a booklet at identical dimensions. That is fifty-six per cent more paper in a booklet the same size, from a brand almost nobody has heard of, and it is stated on our distributor's page in a bullet point that nobody has thought to compare against anything.

That is the reason to consider these papers, and it is a better reason than anything on the packaging. A 50-leaf booklet lasts appreciably longer between replacements than a 32-leaf one, and if you roll regularly that difference compounds.

A full box is two and a half thousand papers, and our own title says fifty

Fifty sheets in a booklet, fifty booklets in a box. That multiplies out to 2,500 papers.

Our own product name reads Box of 50, which almost anyone will read as fifty papers. It means fifty booklets. The gap between what the title implies and what the box contains is a factor of fifty.

We have been here before and we are not going to pretend otherwise. The identical fault sits on our G-Rollz Jungle listing, where a box of twenty booklets of fifty papers is titled Box of 20 against a thousand papers, and that page sets out the whole diagnosis. It is a naming rule in our catalogue generator rather than a mistake by the brand, and it is being fixed at the source.

The practical version for you: this listing is the trade box, not a booklet. If you want a single booklet of Tokies papers, this is not the listing for it.

The title says King Size. The specification says King Size Slim.

The product name calls these King Size. The specification our distributor publishes underneath it says King Size Slim, and gives 108 by 44mm.

To a roller those are not interchangeable. King size slim is the narrow 44mm format, the one most people mean when they say king size papers today. A wider king size paper exists and takes noticeably more filling. Anyone buying on the title alone and expecting the wider paper will get the narrow one.

The dimensions settle it: 108 by 44mm is exactly what Rizla publishes for its king size slim, so these are slims. We have used the specification rather than the title in our own description, and left the slug alone so nothing you have bookmarked breaks.

Tokies is a UK brand, and it appears to be the only one on our paper shelf

Tokies runs its own shop as well as supplying the trade. It describes itself as founded by creative artists, sells direct to customers alongside a wholesale arm, and carries papers, trays, cones, hemp wraps, joint holders and mystery boxes.

That makes it unusual on our shelf. We list 31 rolling paper products and the rest of the brands are international: RAW and Elements, Monkey King, King Palm, G-Rollz out of France and Spain, ROOR out of Germany, Juicy Jay's. As far as we can tell Tokies is the only UK-founded brand among them.

We are stating that as an observation rather than a virtue. A paper is not better for being designed in Britain. But if that matters to you, it is information nobody else selling these papers bothers to give you, and it is the sort of thing that is genuinely hard to find out.

What Tokies does not publish, and why each gap matters

Rolling paper specifications are usually thin, and this brand is thinner than most. Four things are missing that we would want before recommending a paper without qualification.

The paper weight in gsm is the big one. It is the number that separates an ultra-thin paper from an ordinary one, it is what determines how much the paper contributes to the burn, and Rizla publishes 13.5gsm for the paper this one competes with directly. Tokies publishes nothing. We are not going to estimate it.

The country of manufacture is not stated anywhere. Neither is what the natural gum actually is, although acacia is the near-universal answer in this trade and it is what the brands that do publish a figure all use. And there is no mention of tips. Several king size lines we stock include filter tips in the booklet, and this one appears not to, so plan accordingly.

One rolling paper we sell contains CBD, and this is not it

Our catalogue currently describes these papers as a CBD-isolate CBD product. They are not. They are hemp paper, which is a plant fibre, and there is no cannabinoid in them of any kind.

That description is generated automatically from our supplier feed and it has now made the same error on twenty-two products in this brand group, several of which contain no cannabinoid whatsoever. On a rolling paper it is plainly absurd, and it is being fixed at the source rather than patched over here.

Since the question is a reasonable one to ask, here is the honest cross-shelf answer. Of the 31 rolling paper products we list, exactly one is CBD infused: the ROOR Ultra Thin King Size papers. Every other paper, wrap and cone on the shelf, including these, is hemp fibre and nothing more. Hemp paper and CBD are not the same subject, and a paper made of hemp no more contains CBD than a linen shirt contains flaxseed oil.

How they roll, and who should not buy this listing

Unbleached hemp papers of this type behave predictably. The sheet is a natural light brown rather than white, because nothing has been bleached out of it, and it carries a faint dry papery smell in the booklet that disappears on lighting. Hemp fibre burns slower and more evenly than wood pulp and tends to run less, which is the main practical reason people move to it. Expect a mild taste contribution rather than none at all: unbleached papers are not flavourless, and if you want a paper you cannot detect you want an ultra-thin, which without a published weight we cannot confirm this is.

A 50-leaf booklet is chunkier than a 32-leaf one and will not sit as flat in a pocket. Worth knowing if you carry a booklet around rather than keeping it at home.

Who should not buy this listing: anyone who wants one booklet, because this is a full trade box. Anyone who needs the wide king size format rather than a slim. Anyone who wants tips in the booklet. Anyone who wants a paper with a published gsm figure so they can compare it properly. And anyone who came looking for a CBD product, because there is no cannabinoid in a rolling paper.

There is no legal complication with any of this. Rolling papers are not covered by the CBD rules at all, since they contain no cannabinoid, and hemp fibre used for paper is the oldest and least contentious use of the plant there is.
