Vitality CBD Berry Dual Applicator, 30ml

One bottle, two heads, two different amounts

Start with what the product physically is, because the name is doing a lot of work. There is one bottle of oil. In the box with it are two applicators: a glass pipette of the kind every CBD oil comes with, and a spray pump. You screw on whichever you want and you can change your mind later.

That is genuinely useful. A pipette lets you go slowly and see exactly how much you have drawn. A spray is faster, works one-handed and does not require you to look at anything, which matters if you are taking it somewhere other than a kitchen.

Here is what nobody tells you. A pipette and a spray are two different measuring devices and they do not agree with each other.

The published figures for the stronger bottle are that one spray delivers 22.4mg and a 0.2ml draw from the pipette delivers 32mg. Those are not typos and they are consistent with each other once you check them, which almost nobody does.

The bottle is 30ml holding 4800mg, so the oil is 160mg in each millilitre. Two tenths of a millilitre from the pipette is therefore 32mg exactly. And 22.4mg of oil at that concentration works out at 0.14ml, which is a completely normal amount for a spray pump to push. The numbers hold up.

The practical result is that a spray gives you roughly seventy per cent of what a 0.2ml pipette draw gives you. Same bottle, same oil, different head. If you switch from one to the other and keep counting the same way, you have changed what you are taking.

This one is only visible if you stock both products and read both ingredient lists, which is the kind of thing a shop with one brand cannot do and a shop with thirty-six can.

The Dual Applicator is CBD in raw organic MCT oil, which is fractionated coconut oil, plus natural berry flavouring.

Vitality's plain Berry Oral Drops, same brand, same flavour, same 30ml bottle, are CBD in raw organic hemp seed oil.

Those are different carriers and they behave differently. MCT is thin, clear and close to flavourless, which is why it is the default for anything that needs to taste of the flavouring rather than of the oil, and why it works in a spray pump without clogging. Hemp seed oil is heavier, greener and tastes distinctly of the seed, which some people prefer because it tastes like a plant product should.

Neither is better. But if you have tried Vitality's drops and found the oil itself intrusive, this line is the one that is not, and nothing on either listing would have told you that.

There are two strengths, and our listing shows neither

We would rather flag a gap in our own data than quietly work around it.

The distributor lists this product in two strengths: 2400mg and 4800mg, both in the same 30ml bottle. That means one of them is twice as concentrated as the other and the choice between them is the main decision on this product.

Our catalogue record carries no strength at all and no choice between the two, which is a data problem at our end rather than anything to do with the product. We have flagged it internally and this page will carry the choice properly once it is fixed.

In the meantime, here is what the two figures mean. At 2400mg the oil is 80mg in each millilitre. At 4800mg it is 160mg. Everything else about the bottles is identical: same size, same flavour, same MCT carrier, same two applicators.

Worth one careful line on quantity. The Food Standards Agency's precautionary advice for healthy adults is to keep CBD from food supplements to ten milligrams a day, which is well below a single 0.2ml pipette draw from the stronger bottle. That is advice rather than a legal limit and it is not a dosage instruction from us, but it is context worth having when a bottle delivers 32mg in one draw. What is actually in it

Three things: CBD, raw organic MCT oil from coconut, and natural berry flavouring. That is the whole list.

The CBD is described as 99 per cent pure with no THC, which is the standard way of saying isolate: purified CBD with the other plant compounds removed. It is why the oil is clear rather than green and why the flavour is berry rather than hemp.

That also means there is no entourage of other cannabinoids, no terpenes from the plant and nothing to declare beyond the CBD itself. If a broader plant extract is what you are after, this is not it, and our broad and full spectrum oils are elsewhere in the range.

On the legal position, an isolate makes it straightforward: with the other cannabinoids removed there is nothing controlled left to count against the UK limit of one milligram of controlled cannabinoids in a container. Berry, and what it is covering up

Flavoured CBD oil exists for one reason, and it is worth being honest about it: unflavoured CBD oil in a plant carrier tastes strongly of the plant, and a lot of people do not like it.

In this case the flavouring has less work to do than usual, because MCT is already close to flavourless. So the berry reads as berry rather than as berry-over-something, which is not true of a flavoured hemp seed oil, where the seed comes through underneath.

It is a soft, jammy, non-specific berry rather than a sharp one. Nobody is claiming it tastes of a particular fruit, and the ingredient list says natural berry flavouring without going further.

Vitality makes the same oil in Natural, which is the unflavoured version, and in Lemon. If berry is not for you those exist, and the Natural is the honest place to find out what MCT and CBD taste like on their own.

Who should choose something else

Anyone who only ever uses one applicator. If you know you want a pipette, the plain Oral Drops do that in a hemp seed oil carrier. If you know you want a spray, the Lemon Oral Spray does that. The dual bottle is for people who genuinely want both, and it is not otherwise an advantage.

Anyone who wants a full or broad spectrum oil. This is isolate, which is a deliberate choice and a real limitation depending on what you are after.

Anyone who assumed the spray and the pipette were interchangeable. They are not, and the difference is about thirty per cent, which is the main reason this page exists.

Anyone who dislikes coconut-derived ingredients. MCT is fractionated coconut oil, and while it carries no coconut flavour, it is coconut-derived and that matters to some people.
