Most of what we sell comes from brands that are independent of the companies distributing them. Orange County, Aztec, Multitrance and the rest all run their own businesses, publish their own material and answer for their own products, and the wholesaler in the middle is just a link in the chain.

This one is different. Blazed sells its own-label range alongside the manufacturers it distributes, and Blazed is one of the two wholesalers this shop buys from. So the maker and the supplier are the same company.

That is neither a good thing nor a bad thing, but it is a thing, and it changes three practical points. There is no independent brand website to cross-reference, because the brand does not run a consumer shop of its own. There is no separate brand-published certificate page to compare against what a retailer tells you. And if something is wrong there is no second company to escalate to, because the maker and the wholesaler are one.

Against that, the chain is shorter. There is one fewer party between the factory and this page, and when we ask a question about this product we are asking the people who made it rather than passing a message along.

We would rather set that out than let a shopper assume Blazed is an independent brand they could go and research. Almost no retailer says this about a house brand, and we are unusually well placed to, because in this case the house is ours as well.

What jelly signals, as against gummy

The two words get used interchangeably and they do carry a real difference in ordinary trade use.

A gummy is usually the chewier, denser sweet, traditionally set with gelatin, which is what gives a gummy bear its resistance. A jelly is generally softer, set with pectin rather than gelatin, and very often finished with a sugar coating rather than left glossy.

That distinction matters more than texture alone, because a pectin set is what makes a sweet suitable for vegetarians and vegans while a gelatin set does not. Comparable mixed fruit CBD jellies from other makers are pectin-based for exactly that reason.

We have to be careful here, though. We have not obtained an ingredient declaration for this specific product, so we are describing what the word jelly conventionally signals rather than telling you what is in this pack. If a pectin set or a vegan suitability matters to you, ask before ordering rather than inferring it from the category name. The other thing the word usually brings with it is a milder, fruitier flavour than a heavily loaded gummy, because a softer set carries flavouring differently and a sugar coating hits first. The stated strength here is 10mg apiece, which is at the gentler end of the CBD sweets we sell.

Check what a unit actually is before you order

This is the most important practical point on the page and it is one we cannot fully answer.

Our supplier ranges CBD jellies within a bulk section of its catalogue rather than only as retail bags. Our own product record for this line describes the unit simply as one unit, with no weight and no count attached to it, and that record is flagged internally as unconfirmed.

So we are not going to tell you how much you get, because we do not reliably know, and guessing would be worse than admitting it. What we will say is that this is a line where the quantity is genuinely worth confirming before ordering, because the gap between a small bag and a bulk container is a large one and the listing does not currently settle it.

Novel Foods does not travel with a recipe

CBD sweets are food, so the Novel Foods regime applies to them, and there is a wrinkle here that is specific to own-label products and that we have not seen anyone address.

Authorisation under that regime is not a general permission granted to an ingredient. It attaches to particular products submitted by particular applicants. Which means an own-label version does not inherit the position of another company's product, even where the sweets were made in the same factory to the same recipe. The brand on the front matters to the paperwork.

We cannot tell you where this product stands, and we are not going to imply either answer. What we can do is tell you the question is a real one for any house-brand ingestible, and that asking the supplier directly is the way to settle it. Who should choose something else

If you want to research the brand before buying, there is no independent Blazed consumer site to research, and that is a reasonable thing to want.
