Multitrance Boxed Cannabis Brownie (Strong Flavour)

Strong is a flavour grade, and nothing else

Multitrance bakes this brownie in two grades and sells them across ten separate product pages: Blueberry Haze, Fudge, Hazelnuts, Salted Caramel and Sativa Seeds, each in Medium and in Strong. Nowhere on the brand's site is the difference between the two ever defined. Not on the product pages, not on the category page, not in a specification panel.

That silence matters more here than it would on a biscuit. Put the word Strong on a product called a cannabis brownie and a reasonable person reads potency. What it actually indicates is how assertive the sativa and cocoa notes are against the sweetness. A Strong brownie tastes more of hemp than a Medium one. That is the whole of the difference.

We carry the Strong grade because it is the version that reads as intended: the herbal note is meant to be present, and the Medium bakes it back until the point of the product is faint. If you want the gentler version, ask us and we will look at bringing it in.

Two names also attach to this brownie in the UK market. At least one retailer sells the same Multitrance product under the name Cannabis Bakehouse, which is a separate Dutch range with its own flavours, its own recipe built on terpene oil rather than hemp oil, and a smaller bar. They are not the same product. If you have compared two listings and found the weights disagree, that is why.

The five flavours we carry

All five are the Strong sativa grade. The base is the same dense cocoa brownie in every one; the named flavour is what sits on top of it.

Availability moves on this line and we leave sold-out options visible in the picker rather than hiding them, so you can see what is due back instead of assuming we cut the range.

What is actually in the box

One brownie, individually wrapped, in a printed carton. The brand states a 100 gram net weight, and that figure is repeated by the independent UK retailers stocking the line, so it is the one we would trust.

The ingredient list Multitrance publishes runs roughly as follows, with the exact composition varying by flavour: sugar, water, wheat flour, vegetable oil, cocoa powder, egg powder, milk powder, glucose syrup, milk protein, stabiliser E420, salt, E500, hemp oil at under one per cent, and flavouring. The named flavour is added on top of that base.

Two things in that list deserve to be said out loud rather than left buried in a paragraph. The first is allergens: wheat, egg and milk are all present. Every UK page we checked prints the ingredients and then never flags them, which on a confectionery product is a real omission rather than a technicality. If you have an allergy, contact us before ordering and we will get the current per-flavour panel from the supplier rather than guess on your behalf.

The second is hemp oil at under one per cent. That is the entirety of the hemp content, and the brand does not state whether it is seed oil or an extract, nor does it publish a cannabinoid figure of any kind. On a product with a cannabis leaf on the front, we think that is worth knowing before you order rather than after.

What it tastes like

Dense rather than cakey. This is the fudgy end of the brownie spectrum, soft in the middle, with cocoa doing most of the work and a slight chew at the edges. If your reference point is a bakery counter brownie you will find it sweeter and more uniform, which is what an ambient shelf life buys you.

The hemp note arrives late. You get chocolate first, then the named flavour, then a green, faintly grassy finish that lingers a beat longer than you expect. In the Strong grade that finish is unmistakable. It is the same herbal register you get in hemp seed oil or a hemp protein powder, not the resinous smell people associate with the plant burning.

Salted Caramel handles that finish best, because salt and caramel are both loud enough to meet it. Sativa Seeds does the opposite and leans into it, with actual roasted seeds giving a nutty crunch through the batter. Between those two poles, Hazelnuts is the most conventional eating and Blueberry Haze the most divisive: berry against a grassy finish works for some people and reads as soapy to others.

It is a rich 100 grams. Most people find it a two-sitting brownie rather than a one-sitting one, which is worth knowing since there is no resealable wrapper.

How it compares with the rest of our edibles shelf

Two useful comparisons here. The first is against the other cannabis-flavoured bakes we stock, where the question is format and intensity. The second is against the products in the same aisle that do carry a stated cannabinoid figure, because plenty of people arrive at a page like this one wanting CBD and would leave with a flavoured brownie if nobody told them the difference.

The dividing line is simple and it is the only one worth checking on any product in this category: is there a milligram number on the label. A product that leads with the word cannabis and never states a figure is telling you something by omission.

The UK legal position, stated properly

The brand and several of the shops selling this brownie describe it as one hundred per cent legal for consumption in the European Union. That is a true statement about the EU and it is not a statement about Britain, which left the EU in 2020. An EU compliance claim does not carry across, and one retailer in this market goes further and calls the line legal to ship worldwide, which is not a claim anyone can support.

Here is the actual UK test. A consumer product may contain no more than one milligram of controlled cannabinoids, meaning THC, THCV and CBN, per container. Per container. Not per portion, not per serving, and not as a percentage of anything. A percentage figure applied to a large container can sit far above the limit while sounding reassuringly small, which is exactly why the percentage is the wrong number to reason with.

The percentage figure people repeat in this context comes from a different rulebook altogether. It governs the standing crop a farmer may grow under a Home Office cultivation licence. It is a farming rule about a plant in a field and it has nothing to do with what may lawfully be sold to a customer.

For this brownie, the practical position is straightforward. Multitrance states no THC across the line, and there is no declared cannabinoid content of any kind. Because no CBD extract is declared, we make no Novel Foods claim for it: that regime covers ingestible CBD extracts, and this product does not present itself as one. Everything on our shelves is 18 plus, this included.

Who should not buy this brownie

Anyone looking for CBD. There is no stated cannabinoid content here, and if a milligram figure is what you are after, the CBD cookies in the comparison above are the right shelf and this is not.

Anyone looking for a space cake in the Amsterdam sense. THC edibles are controlled drugs in the UK and we do not sell them. This brownie borrows the culture and the packaging and deliberately leaves out the part that made the original what it was. The brand is upfront about that and so are we.

Anyone with a wheat, egg, milk or nut concern who has not spoken to us first. The panel varies by flavour, the published lists in this market are inconsistent, and we would rather answer an email than have you find out from the wrapper.

And anyone who dislikes herbal or grassy flavours. The Strong grade exists precisely to push that note forward. If it is not to your taste, no amount of chocolate around it will hide it.
