RAW Hemp Plastic Rolling Machine, 70mm

The description on this product is wrong, twice

We would rather correct our own listing than quietly leave it there, so here is the sentence in question. The trade copy reads that this is available in single units and that the machine rolls king size papers, giving 70mm alongside.

The first error is the size. King size papers are 110mm long. This machine is 70mm. Thirty millimetres of paper would have nowhere to go, and anyone buying it on the strength of that sentence would have bought the wrong thing entirely. What 70mm actually takes is regular papers, the size also sold as single wide.

That is not a marginal call. The search results for 70mm rolling machines are almost entirely Rizla, the biggest paper brand in the country, and every single one of those listings calls 70mm Regular. Our own listing for the 110mm machine gets the same point right from the other direction, describing 110mm as the king size one.

The second error is smaller and stranger. The same sentence says the machine is available in single units. It is not: the trade code and our own catalogue both have it as a box of twelve, which is how it arrives.

Neither error affects the machine, which is a perfectly good hand roller. They affect whether you end up with the right one, which is the part that matters.

We do not sell a paper that fits this machine

This is the sentence no shop writes, so we will.

We went through every rolling paper in our range to check. All of them are king size or 1 1/4. The RAW papers, the Professor Herb, the Tokies, the ROOR, the Monkey King, the G-Rollz and the Elements are king size. The King Palm papers are 1 1/4. The rest of the aisle is rolls, wraps and pre-rolled cones, none of which a fixed-size machine helps with.

There is no regular paper anywhere on our shelves. Not one. Which means this machine, alone of the three RAW sizes we carry, has nothing here to pair with it.

If you are buying this, you already own regular papers from somewhere else, which is entirely reasonable. Regular is the tobacco roll-your-own standard and it is what most corner shops sell. But we are not going to let you assume you can add a matching paper to the basket, because you cannot.

We have flagged the gap internally. Either the range gains a regular paper or this machine is an odd thing for us to be selling, and we would rather tell you which situation you are in.

What regular papers actually are

Regular is the oldest size still in mass use and the one most people in Britain have handled without ever learning its name.

A regular paper is about 70mm long and narrow with it, and it produces a roll roughly the size of a cigarette. That is the whole design intent. It is the standard size for rolling tobacco, which is why it dominates newsagents and supermarkets while barely appearing in specialist shops.

It also goes by single wide, which is confusing given the word wide, and our listing for the 79mm machine explains where that naming mess comes from and why 1 1/4 is a fraction of width rather than a length.

For this page the practical version is short. If your papers came from a corner shop in a small booklet and produce something cigarette-sized, they are regular and this is your machine. If they came from a specialist shop and produce something noticeably longer, they are almost certainly king size and this is not.

Where it sits against the other two

We stock all three RAW machine sizes, which is what lets us set them out properly rather than describing one in isolation.

What is worth saying is the shape of the choice. Seventy takes regular, seventy-nine takes 1 1/4, one hundred and ten takes king size. Two of those three have a matching paper on our shelves and this one does not.

The machine itself is the same object at three scales: a hemp plastic composite body with two aprons, hand-cranked, no moving parts beyond the rollers. Our 110mm listing goes into what hemp plastic does and does not tell you, and that applies here unchanged.

What is in it

A moulded hemp plastic composite and two aprons. No cannabinoid, no CBD, no tobacco and no nicotine. Nothing in the UK rules covering CBD products applies to a rolling machine.

Our own catalogue system generated a description calling this a CBD isolate hemp accessory, which is wrong twice over. It has been replaced here, as it has on the other two machines.

Almost everybody reading this page, and we mean that as guidance rather than as modesty.

Anyone buying papers from us. Every one of them is king size or 1 1/4, so the 110mm or the 79mm is the machine you want.

Anyone who read the trade description and thought this was a king size machine. It is not, and that description is the reason this section exists.

Anyone who wants a cone rather than a straight roll. Our 110mm listing covers why no hand roller of this type will do that.

The people this is right for are specific: you already roll regular or single wide papers, you get them somewhere other than here, and you want a machine that fits them. If that is you, it is exactly the correct machine and none of the above applies.
