Multitrance Cannabis Incense Sticks in Dry Cannabis Leaves are the plain version of the range: hand-rolled fragrance sticks carrying the dried-leaf cannabis accord on its own, with no fruit, sweet or spice note over it, sold as six packs of fifteen. That makes it the reference stick. Every one of the nine flavoured scents in the Multitrance-branded line, and most of the HaZe line beside it, is this scent with something laid on top, so if you want to know what the cannabis in any of them actually smells like, this is the stick to burn first. It smells of dried plant, hay and cured herb with a resinous edge, not of smoke, and there is no cannabis, CBD or THC in it. This page describes that base plainly, maps what each blend in the range adds to it, and shows how one pack can settle which flavoured stick, if any, you should buy next.
The base every flavoured stick in the range is built on
Dry Cannabis Leaves is the one scent in the Multitrance-branded line with nothing added, and the nine flavoured sticks are all this accord with a second note on top, so it is the reference against which every other stick in the range can be read.
Scented incense is a wood-and-resin paste on a bamboo core with a fragrance accord worked through it, and in this range the accord that gives the line its name is a dried cannabis leaf note: warm, herbal, hay-like, with a faintly peppery, resinous edge once it is burning. On this stick that is all there is. On the Vanilla, Lemon, Cookies and the rest, the same note sits underneath something sweeter or brighter, and how much of it survives depends on what has been put on top.
Our distributor and the maker describe the stick as made in India, hand-rolled, fifteen to a pack with a burn of thirty to forty-five minutes, and as a natural, earthy cannabis aroma for fragrance only. That is accurate as far as it goes. What no seller says is the useful thing: that this is the stick that tells you what the other eight smell like underneath. The Fresh Cannabis Leaves page covers the one real alternative base, the green rather than the dried note, and why drying turns a sharp green leaf into something closer to hay; we will not repeat it here beyond saying that the blends in this range are all built on the dried version, this one.

What each blend adds to this base
Read against this stick, every flavoured scent in the range does one of four things to the dry-leaf note: covers it, rounds it, lifts it or sharpens it, and the table says which.
This is the map nobody selling the range publishes, and it is the most useful thing on the page if you are trying to choose. Each row is this stick plus one accord, and the third column says what that accord does to the base you can smell here. Covering scents bury the cannabis note under something heavier. Rounding scents soften it without hiding it. Lifting scents put a bright top note over it that fades back to the base. Sharpening scents make the base read drier and greener than it does alone.
The live comparison beneath the table reads the incense shelf as it stands today.
| Dry Cannabis Leaves, this page | Nothing | Reference | All of it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nag Champa | Resin, spice and flower accord | Rounds it into a temple-incense register | Most |
| Lemon | Sharp citrus top note | Lifts it, then fades back to the base | Most, after the first half |
| Coconut | Creamy coconut | Rounds it | About half |
| Strawberry | Jammy red fruit | Rounds it, fades soonest of the sweets | About half |
| Mango | Bright tropical fruit | Lifts it | About half |
| Blueberry | Cooked dark fruit | Covers it with sweetness | A little |
| Chocolate | Cocoa and roast | Covers it, but blends rather than sits on top | A little |
| Cookies | Vanilla and brown sugar | Covers it | A little |
| Vanilla | Creamy vanilla | Covers it most completely and lingers longest | Least |
| Bubblegum | Pink candy sweetness | Covers it, sits on top rather than blending | Least |
One pack of this stick will tell you which blend to buy
Burn a single Dry Cannabis Leaves stick in the room you mean to use it in, decide whether you want that note kept, softened or covered, and the map above gives you the blend.
Most people arrive at cannabis incense through a flavoured scent, like the idea, buy six boxes of it, and then find the cannabis note underneath is not what they expected, in either direction. The simple way to avoid that is the plain stick. One pack is fifteen sticks, which is more than enough to learn what the base is and whether you want it.
Burn one stick in the actual room
Scent reads differently in a small bedroom and an open-plan living room. Light one Dry Leaves stick where you intend to burn incense, with the door closed and a window on the latch, and let it run its full thirty to forty-five minutes.
Decide what you want done with the base
If you like the hay-and-resin note on its own, you are finished: this is your stick, or the HaZe Pure Dry Cannabis if you prefer a machine-made one. If you like it but want it softer, you want a rounding scent. If you want it mostly gone, a covering one.
Pick from the map
Rounding: Nag Champa, Coconut or Strawberry. Lifting: Lemon or Mango. Covering: Blueberry, Chocolate, Cookies, Vanilla or Bubblegum, in roughly that order of how completely they bury the base.
Keep the rest for the base's own sake
Fourteen plain sticks are not wasted. They are the stick to burn when a sweet scent has overstayed its welcome, because the dry-leaf note is quiet and fades cleanly over an evening.
What it actually smells like, and the question about the neighbours
It smells of dried plant, not burning plant: hay, cured herb and dried sage with a resinous, faintly peppery edge, and nothing in it reads as smoke or as the skunky note people associate with cannabis being used.
The honest everyday comparisons are a hay barn, a jar of dried sage, and pipe tobacco in the pouch before it is lit. All of those are cured plant material and they share the warm, sweet-dry softness that drying gives a leaf. The resinous edge is what marks it as cannabis rather than generic herb: a faint stickiness in the smell, a little pepper, a suggestion of the plant's own resin. It is quiet, and of all the scents in the range it is the one that fades most cleanly, gone from the room by the next morning rather than sitting in the curtains the way the Vanilla does.
The question people do not ask out loud is whether burning a cannabis-scented stick smells, to a neighbour or a landlord, like cannabis being smoked. It does not, and the reason is simple: this is incense smoke carrying a dried-leaf accord, and cannabis smoke smells of combustion and skunk, two things this stick does not contain. What a visitor will smell is incense, with a herbal note they may or may not place. The Fresh Leaves page answers the same question for the green version, where the answer is the same.
What the scent does through the burn is nothing dramatic. There is no volatile top note to flash off, as there is on the Lemon, and no heavy fixative to build, as there is on the Vanilla; the dry-leaf accord is middle-weight and releases evenly from the first minute to the last. The only change is the incense base itself, which reads smokier as the stick shortens and the ember nears the core. If the smoke overtakes the scent, the stick is burning too fast, and a draughty spot is usually the cause.
Dry Cannabis Leaves against the HaZe Pure Dry Cannabis, and a status split
The maker sells the same plain dried-leaf idea under its HaZe label as Pure Dry Cannabis, machine-made in the EU, and while our distributor tags this hand-rolled version as discontinued, the maker still lists it, which is not true of the other end-of-line scents.
Two plain dried-leaf sticks sit on our shelf. This one is the Multitrance-branded Cannabis Incense Sticks version, hand-rolled and described by the maker and our distributor as made in India. The other is Pure Dry Cannabis in the HaZe six-pack, produced in the European Union to a machine-consistent format; the HaZe page sets out that difference in construction and burn. The scent idea is the same. The stick is not: expect this one to be denser and smokier, and the HaZe stick thinner and cleaner.
The status of this scent is odd and worth stating exactly. Our distributor's feed tags Dry Cannabis Leaves as a discontinued line, as it does Lemon, Vanilla, Bubblegum, Chocolate and Mango. But unlike those, the maker's own Multitrance-branded incense category still lists Dry Cannabis Leaves as a current scent, alongside Blueberry, Chocolate, Cookies, Fresh Leaves and Nag Champa. So the distributor is dropping it; the maker, as far as its website shows, is not. What that means for you is that this listing may go out of stock here before the stick stops existing, and the HaZe Pure Dry Cannabis is the version we expect to keep. The whole story of the line being folded into HaZe is on our four-scent page.
| Stick | Line | Origin as stated | Construction | Status | Where on our shelf |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dry Cannabis Leaves, this page | Multitrance Cannabis Incense Sticks | India, per maker and distributor | Hand-rolled, denser, smokier | Discontinued at our distributor; still listed by the maker | This listing, six packs |
| Pure Dry Cannabis | HaZe Holland | European Union | Machine-made, thinner, cleaner | Current line | In the HaZe six-pack, choose Pure Dry Cannabis |
No cannabis, no CBD, no THC, and sold to adults
Nothing from the hemp or cannabis plant is in this stick, so the UK 1mg controlled-cannabinoid test has nothing to measure and the stick is a room fragrance sold on this site to over-18s.
This is the scent where the point most needs making, because the name is the plant and nothing else. A dried-leaf accord is a fragrance built to smell like cured cannabis leaf; it is not cured cannabis leaf, and the maker does not claim otherwise. Our generated catalogue line calls the stick a CBD accessory, which is the importer's default wording and wrong; the Blueberry page tracks how far that mislabel has spread across retailers. It is also not the herbal incense banned under the Psychoactive Substances Act, which was a smoking product carrying synthetic cannabinoids; the HaZe page explains the difference. Light it, stand it in a holder, and that is its whole use.
Good for
- You want the cannabis note on its own, with nothing sweet over it
- You want to know what the base of every other Multitrance scent smells like before buying one
- You want the stick in the range that fades most cleanly by morning
Not for you if
- You want a sweet or fruity room scent. Any of the nine blends does that; this one does not
- You want the continuing line rather than end-of-line stock here. That is Pure Dry Cannabis in the HaZe listing
- You want the sharp green note of the living plant. That is Fresh Cannabis Leaves
- You were looking for CBD. There is none in any incense stick
Questions people ask
Does the Dry Cannabis Leaves stick smell of hay or of weed?
Hay, with a resinous edge. It is a dried-leaf accord, so the everyday comparisons are a hay barn, dried sage and pipe tobacco in the pouch: warm, soft and herbal, with a faint pepper and stickiness that marks it as cannabis rather than generic herb. It does not smell of smoke or of the skunky note of cannabis being used.
Is Dry Cannabis Leaves the base of the flavoured Multitrance sticks?
Yes. The nine flavoured scents in the Multitrance-branded line are all this dried-leaf accord with a second note on top, from Nag Champa to Bubblegum, and most of the HaZe line is built the same way. This is the only Multitrance-branded stick with nothing added, which is why it works as the reference.
Which flavoured scent keeps most of the dry-leaf note?
Nag Champa, then Lemon once its citrus top note has faded. The rounding scents, Coconut and Strawberry, keep about half of it. The covering scents bury it, with Vanilla and Bubblegum hiding it most completely. The map on this page sets all nine out in that order.
Can one pack of Dry Cannabis Leaves help me choose a blend?
That is the best use of it. Burn one stick in the room you mean to use, decide whether you want the base kept, softened or covered, and pick the blend accordingly: Nag Champa, Coconut or Strawberry to soften it, Lemon or Mango to brighten it, Blueberry, Chocolate, Cookies, Vanilla or Bubblegum to cover it. The other fourteen sticks are the quiet ones to burn afterwards.
Is Dry Cannabis Leaves plainer than the HaZe Pure Dry Cannabis?
They are the same plain idea in two constructions. This Multitrance-branded stick is hand-rolled and described as made in India, so it burns denser and smokier; the HaZe Pure Dry Cannabis is machine-made in the European Union and burns thinner and cleaner. Neither has a second scent added. We stock both, the HaZe one inside our HaZe six-pack listing.
Why does the maker still list this scent when your distributor says it is discontinued?
Because the two are making different decisions. Our distributor tags Dry Cannabis Leaves as a discontinued line, but the maker's own Multitrance-branded incense category still lists it as current, unlike Lemon, Vanilla, Bubblegum, Mango and Strawberry, which have moved to the HaZe label entirely. It may go out of stock here before it stops existing.
Does the dry-leaf scent change as the stick burns down?
Very little. There is no volatile top note to flash off and no heavy fixative to build, so the accord releases evenly from the first minute to the last. The only change is the incense base reading smokier as the ember nears the bamboo core. If smoke overtakes the scent, the stick is burning too fast, usually because of a draught.
Is there anything from the hemp plant in a Dry Cannabis Leaves stick?
No. The name describes a fragrance accord built to smell like cured cannabis leaf, worked into an ordinary wood-and-resin incense paste on a bamboo core. There is no leaf, no extract, no CBD and no THC in the stick, and the maker does not claim there is. It is a room fragrance and is sold here to over-18s.
