The 90mg is hemp seed oil, not CBD

The manufacturer describes these as containing 90 milligrams of cannabis oil in each gummy. Our own distributor states the same figure more plainly as 90mg of hemp oil. The ingredient list on both resolves which is accurate: hemp seed oil at three per cent.

Hemp seed oil is pressed from the seeds of the plant. Seeds are not where cannabinoids are made, which is why hemp seed oil has sat on supermarket shelves as a cooking oil for decades and is regulated as a food rather than as a cannabinoid product. Ninety milligrams of it is a quantity of oil, not a dose of anything.

The arithmetic backs that up. A 50g pack at three per cent hemp seed oil holds roughly 1.5g of it in total, and spread across the gummies in a pack that works out at about the 90mg each the label quotes. The number is describing the recipe, not an active ingredient.

Calling it cannabis oil is the part we would push back on. In ordinary consumer language, cannabis oil means an extract containing cannabinoids. Hemp seed oil is not that, and the two are not interchangeable however closely related the plants are.

None of this makes it a bad sweet. It makes it a sweet, which is a different thing from what a milligram figure on a gummy usually signals.

Why the number matters more here than on the other Euphoria sweets

We stock several cannabis-flavoured Euphoria confections and most of them share the same basic position: cannabis is the flavour and there is no cannabinoid in the product. We say so on each of their pages.

The difference is that the lollipops and the hard candies publish no number at all. There is nothing on those packs for a buyer to misread. This one publishes a milligram figure, on a gummy, in a category called CBD gummies, and describes it using the words cannabis oil.

Every one of those four things points the reader towards the same wrong conclusion, and none of them is individually dishonest. Together they add up to a listing that a reasonable person will misread.

So if you have arrived here from the CBD gummies aisle expecting 90mg of cannabidiol in each sweet, stop. The gummies that actually carry a stated cannabidiol content are linked further down, and they are measured in hundreds of milligrams per pack rather than in oil content.

Two flavours, and a colouring discrepancy worth knowing about

Apple OG and Strawberry Haze, both at 50g, both built on the same base recipe with the flavouring and the natural colouring changed.

The colourings are worth setting out because they are unusually clean. Apple OG is coloured with spirulina, a blue-green algae, and Strawberry Haze with carrot concentrate. Both are plant derived. That is a better answer than this category usually gives: elsewhere in our own sweets aisle we have found insect-derived cochineal on a competing brand's lollipops, so natural colouring here means something.

One caution. Our distributor's listing for Strawberry Haze names spirulina as its colouring, while the manufacturer's own listing gives carrot concentrate for that flavour and spirulina for Apple OG. Somebody has copied the wrong ingredient line across, and on the balance of evidence it is the distributor rather than the maker. We have raised it. If the colouring matters to you specifically, ask us and we will get confirmation from the pack rather than from a web listing.

Pectin rather than gelatine, and what that gets you

This is the specification that deserves more attention than the cannabis branding, and no listing anywhere leads with it.

The gelling agent is pectin, which comes from fruit, rather than gelatine, which comes from animal collagen. That makes these gummies suitable for vegans and vegetarians without any caveat, and the manufacturer states one hundred per cent vegan ingredients outright.

Pectin also behaves differently in the mouth. A pectin gummy has a shorter, cleaner bite and melts rather than staying chewy the way a gelatine sweet does, and it releases flavour faster. Whether you prefer that is personal, but it is a genuine textural difference rather than a marketing distinction.

The rest of the list is short: glucose syrup, sugar, citric acid, hemp seed oil, natural colouring and flavouring, with no artificial preservatives. For a novelty confectionery product that is a notably plain ingredient panel, and it is published in full by the manufacturer, which is more than most of this category manages.

If you want a gummy that contains a cannabinoid

The honest recommendation is to buy something else, and we would rather send you there than take an order you will be disappointed by.

A CBD gummy states its cannabidiol content in milligrams across the pack and usually per sweet as well. Our Orange County and MediCBD gummies do exactly that, in hundreds of milligrams rather than in oil percentages. Euphoria's own CBD cookies state a cannabinoid figure too, so the brand does make products that carry one.

One more thing about the name

There is an unrelated American brand selling THC gummies under the name Euphoria, and it appears in search results alongside this one.

They have nothing to do with each other. The Euphoria we stock is a European hemp confectionery and CBD brand. The American product is a THC gummy, which is a controlled drug in the UK and which no British shop can lawfully sell you.

If you have read about Euphoria gummies somewhere and arrived here expecting an intoxicating product, you have almost certainly read about the other one. This product contains no THC and no cannabinoid at all.

Who should not buy this

If you want CBD, this is not a CBD product. It contains no cannabidiol, states none, and the 90mg on the pack refers to a cooking oil. Buy a gummy with a milligram figure that names the cannabinoid.

If you are allergic to anything, we cannot help you as fully as we would like. The manufacturer publishes a full ingredient list but no allergen statement, and while the panel is short and plant based, an absence of allergen labelling is not the same as an absence of allergens. Ask us before ordering if that matters.

If you specifically want Apple OG, it is currently unavailable, and it is the only one of the two coloured with spirulina.

And if you dislike the texture of pectin sweets, these will not change your mind. They are firmly in the pectin camp, with the shorter bite and faster flavour release that comes with it, rather than the long chew of a gelatine gummy.
