What a two-piece leaves out, and when that is the right choice

A two-piece grinder is a lid and a base. You put material between the teeth, twist, and take out what you ground. That is the whole mechanism.

A three-piece adds two things: a mesh screen in the floor of the grinding chamber, and a collection compartment underneath it. Finer particles fall through the screen and gather in the bottom chamber, so over time you accumulate a separate quantity of the finest material. The G-Rollz three-piece has both, and the distributor lists them explicitly.

So the honest way to put it is that a two-piece does the grinding and a three-piece does the grinding and the sorting. If you grind and immediately use what you ground, the screen and chamber do nothing for you and the two-piece is smaller, lighter, easier to clean and has fewer places for material to hide.

If you want the fine material kept separately, a two-piece cannot do it and no amount of technique will change that. That is the trade-off, stated plainly, and it is the reason both formats exist.

One practical note in the two-piece's favour that nobody mentions: with no screen to clog and no third chamber, there is materially less cleaning. A screen is the part of a three-piece that eventually stops working well.

What a hemp composite grinder actually is

The distributor calls the material hemp based and describes the build as eco inspired, which tells you very little. Here is the useful version.

Hemp composite is a moulding material made by blending natural hemp fibre with a binding agent. It behaves more like a stiff bioplastic than like wood, and in a grinder it produces a body that is lighter than metal, warmer to the touch than acrylic, and slightly matte rather than glossy. The colour comes through the material rather than sitting on top as paint, which is why these are sold in mixed colours per display.

Against a metal grinder it is lighter and quieter, and it will not survive being dropped on a hard floor as well. Against a clear acrylic grinder it is sturdier and looks considerably better, and you cannot see through it to judge how full it is.

On the environmental question, we would rather be precise than enthusiastic. Retailers in this category describe the binding agents as biodegradable, and a hemp-fibre composite plainly involves less virgin plastic than an all-acrylic grinder. What nobody publishes is a compostability standard, a timeframe, or any test result. So the honest position is that it is a lower-plastic material with a natural fibre content, and that anything stronger than that is not supported by anything we can point to.

The teeth are moulded from the same material rather than being metal pins. That is worth knowing: they grind perfectly well on dry plant material and they are not the tool for anything resinous or sticky, which will clog moulded teeth faster than steel ones.

About the Box of 16 in our own product title

Our listing for this grinder is titled with a box of sixteen. We should explain where that came from, because the supplier never says it.

Our distributor's title is simply the G-Rollz Hemp Based 2 Piece Grinder, and neither its title nor its description states any pack quantity at all. The sixteen comes from two other places. The supplier's own product code ends C16, which reads as a case of sixteen. And a UK retailer sells the identical product described as sixteen pieces per display, which is independent corroboration of the same number.

So sixteen is a well-supported figure for the trade display, rather than something anyone invented. What it is not is a consumer quantity. A display of sixteen mixed-colour grinders is what a shop puts on a counter. Almost nobody reading this page wants sixteen grinders.

We have not had our own shipping unit confirmed by the distributor, so we are not going to tell you how many arrive if you order one. Ask us and we will get a straight answer. And we are fixing the title, because a product name that reads like a case quantity is our problem rather than yours.

While we are at it: that title also contains a long dash and the phrase wholesale case quantity, both generated automatically. Our own house style bans the first and the second is trade language that should never have reached a customer. Sixty-seven products in our catalogue carry the same generated suffix and we are correcting the generator rather than patching them one at a time.
