Four labels, four different answers

Set the published ingredient lists for this lolly side by side and they do not agree about the one ingredient that matters.

The brand's own gift box listing gives hemp seed oil. Another of the brand's own listings for the same flavour drops it and gives a different colouring instead. A UK retailer selling the Hash flavour publishes hemp extract. A large European retailer selling the sibling range gives flavours in brackets hemp oil. Our own supplier's listing for the sibling Haze lollies says cannabis extract.

Those are not four ways of saying the same thing. Hemp seed oil is pressed from the seed and carries no cannabinoids at all, which is why it is sold as a cooking oil. A cannabis or hemp extract is drawn from the plant material and may carry cannabinoids depending on how it was made. A flavouring is a flavouring.

And in every one of those declarations, the cannabinoid figure is the same: absent. Not low, not zero, simply not stated by anybody. Compare that with the Bubbly Billy Buds lollipops made by the same company, where ten milligrams of CBD per lolly is printed on the brand listing, our supplier's listing and every retailer's page. When a maker wants you to know a figure, it publishes one.

Our reading is that these are cannabis-flavoured confectionery rather than a CBD product, and we would rather set that out plainly than sell you a strain name and let you draw your own conclusion. If a stated milligram figure is what you want, the comparison further down points you at the sweets in our range that carry one.

Nor does anyone agree how many come in a pack

This one is unusual enough to be worth its own section, because the contradiction reaches into our own data.

Our listing carries the brand's ten-pack naming. The product image our supplier ships with it is a file named for a twelve piece pack. The brand itself sells this lolly as a single, as a gift box of ten, as a display of eighty and as a display container of a hundred. A UK retailer selling the Hash flavour describes it as a display of a hundred.

So we are not going to print a number and hope. Until our supplier confirms exactly which unit ships against this line, the honest answer is that the format is being verified, and you are welcome to ask us before ordering rather than after.

The one figure everybody does agree on is the size of an individual lolly, given consistently as eighteen grams. That is a substantial sweet, larger than a standard high street lolly.

The three flavours in this listing

All three are strain names used as flavour names. None of them indicates a different cannabinoid content, because none of them declares one. What they describe is the flavour register the confectioner was aiming at.

One of the three is unavailable at the moment. Sold-out options stay visible in the picker so you can see the full range rather than assuming it was cut.

What one is actually like, and what is in it nutritionally

It is boiled sugar. That is not a criticism, it is the format: a hard, long-lasting lolly with a herbal, faintly peppery flavour running under the sweetness. The strain names are doing the same job that cola or pear drop does on a conventional sweet, which is to say they set an expectation about the flavour rather than the contents.

Hash is the most divisive of the three, because an earthy flavour on a sugar base is not something everybody enjoys. Energy Skunk is the brightest and the easiest first try. O.G. Kush sits between them.

Exactly one page anywhere publishes a nutrition panel for a lolly in this family, and it is worth repeating because it puts the format in perspective. Per hundred grams: three hundred and ninety two kilocalories, no fat, ninety eight grams of carbohydrate of which sixty seven grams are sugars, and essentially no salt. On an eighteen gram lolly that works out at roughly seventy kilocalories and about twelve grams of sugar.

That panel was published for the sibling Haze flavours rather than for these three specifically, so read it as the right order of magnitude rather than the exact figure for a Hash lolly. It is still four hundred per cent more information than any page selling the strain range gives you.

One more thing found in the sibling range and worth knowing: one of those flavours declares E120, which is cochineal and is derived from insects, while another flavour of the same range does not. If you eat vegetarian, that is a question worth asking us about a specific flavour rather than assuming across the range.

Where this sits among the lollipops we stock

We carry several lollipop ranges and they divide cleanly into two groups: the ones with a stated cannabinoid figure and the ones without. This listing is firmly in the second group, and so are most of them.

The dividing line is not how cannabis-forward the packaging looks. It is whether a milligram number appears anywhere on the label.

The legal position on a sweet like this

The brand describes this range as one hundred per cent legal for consumption in the European Union. That is a statement about the EU and Britain has not been in it since 2020, so it is not the assurance it looks like on a UK shelf.

The British consumer test on controlled cannabinoids is one milligram per container, applied to the container rather than to a portion and never expressed as a percentage. A percentage figure quoted in this category is a cultivation rule about a standing hemp crop and has nothing to do with a finished sweet.

For this product the practical position is simpler than usual. Every source states it as THC free and no source states any cannabinoid content at all. Because nothing here declares a CBD extract, we make no Novel Foods claim for it, and we would not, since that regime governs ingestible CBD rather than a flavoured sweet.

It is eighteen plus, as everything on our shelves is. Two of the three pages we examined selling this lolly state no age restriction whatsoever.

Who should skip these

Anyone who came here for CBD. Nothing published for this sweet establishes any cannabinoid content, and the Bubbly Billy Buds lollipops from the same manufacturer are the ones with a figure on the label.

Anyone eating vegetarian who wants certainty. The sibling range declares cochineal in at least one flavour, the declarations for this range conflict, and we would rather you asked us than guessed.

Anyone who dislikes herbal or earthy sweets. The Hash flavour in particular is aiming squarely at that register, and no amount of sugar disguises it.

And anyone watching sugar intake. Roughly twelve grams of it in a single lolly is what boiled confectionery is, and pretending otherwise would be silly.
