CBD Oil UK
CBD oil is the only format in the UK that lets you move a milligram at a time: a dropper under the tongue, held for about a minute, adjusted until it suits you. That control is the whole reason to buy oil rather than a gummy or a drink. The catch is that almost nobody explains what the number on the bottle means once it reaches a drop, so a 500mg bottle and a 12,000mg bottle get compared as though the second were twenty-four times the first. It is not. This page converts every bottle on the shelf into the figure that actually matters, then covers the law, the extract types, and when oil is the wrong thing to buy.

CBD oil is the only format in the UK that lets you move a milligram at a time: a dropper under the tongue, held for about a minute, adjusted until it suits you. That control is the whole reason to buy oil rather than a gummy or a drink. It is not. This page converts every bottle on the shelf into the figure that actually matters, then covers the law, the extract types, and when oil is the wrong thing to buy.
Start with the drop, not the bottle
Divide the milligrams on the label by the drops in the bottle, about 20 a millilitre, and you have the only number that compares one oil with another.
The number on a CBD oil bottle is the total for the whole bottle. On its own it tells you almost nothing, because it says nothing about how much liquid that total is dissolved in.
The conversion is straightforward. A drop from a standard pipette is roughly 0.05ml, which puts about 20 drops in a millilitre. A 10ml bottle is therefore around 200 drops, a 30ml bottle around 600, and a 100ml bottle around 2,000. Divide the total on the label by those figures and you have the number to compare across brands.
Do that across our range and the shelf rearranges itself. A 2,000mg 10ml bottle from Orange County works out at roughly 10mg in a drop. Its 12,000mg 100ml bottle, six times the headline figure, works out at roughly 6mg. The bottle with the larger number on the front is the milder one in the hand, and nothing on either label tells you so.
Two cautions before you use the table. Drop size varies with the viscosity of the oil, so a thick full-spectrum extract gives slightly fewer, fatter drops than a thin isolate. And a full pipette is not one drop, which is the most common mistake made with a new bottle. Read these as close approximations for comparing bottles, not as a measured dose.

Why the bigger bottle is often the weaker one
The same total in three times the liquid is a third of the strength in a drop. A bigger bottle is a longer supply of a gentler oil, not a stronger one.
Look down the table and one pattern repeats. Orange County sells 500mg in a 10ml bottle and 500mg in a 30ml bottle. Same total, three times the liquid, so a drop of the second is a third of the strength of a drop of the first. Same for 1,000mg, which appears in both sizes.
That is not a trick. A larger bottle at the same total is simply a longer-lasting supply of a gentler oil, and for someone taking a small amount daily it is often the more sensible purchase. It only becomes a problem when you compare two bottles on the front label alone and assume the bigger number means the stronger oil.
The same logic explains the 100ml bottles. A 25,000mg 100ml is a serious oil at roughly 12.5mg in a drop, but it still sits below the 10,000mg 30ml on that measure, because the 30ml has less liquid to dilute it. Buy the 100ml because you want a long-running supply of a mid-strength oil, not because the number is the largest on the shelf.
Percentage labels are the other thing to decode. Some brands, including the Euphoria oils on this page, label in percent rather than milligrams. The industry convention is about 100mg per millilitre for every 10 percent, so a 10 percent 10ml bottle holds roughly 1,000mg and works out near 5mg in a drop. Once converted it slots straight into the table above.
| Label | Bottle | Roughly the same as | In a drop |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 percent | 10ml | 1,000mg | about 5mg |
| 20 percent | 10ml | 2,000mg | about 10mg |
| 10 percent | 30ml | 3,000mg | about 5mg |
Drops, oral sprays or paste
Drops give the finest control, a spray gives a fixed amount anywhere, and paste is a concentrate for people who already know their amount.
This aisle splits three ways, and the split matters more than most buyers expect.
Oil drops are the largest group and the reason people choose this format. A pipette gives you fine control, you can step up or down by a single drop, and held under the tongue for around a minute the oil is absorbed through the membrane rather than the gut. The trade is that it is fiddly, it tastes of hemp unless flavoured, and it is not something to do discreetly on a train.
Oral sprays fix the practical problems and give up a little precision. A pump delivers a fixed amount without a mirror or a steady hand, and it goes in a bag. Vitality is the only brand here doing sprays properly, in natural, lemon and berry, and its dual applicators put drops and a spray in one purchase so you can use the dropper at home and the spray out of the house. The sprays have their own page at CBD oral spray.
Paste is the outlier. Eco-CBD's hemp oil paste extract is a thick full-spectrum extract from a syringe rather than a pipette, which suits people who already know their amount and want it concentrated. It is not a starting point, and if you have never taken CBD, start with drops.
One thing all three share: hold it in the mouth before swallowing. Swallow oil immediately and it takes the same slow digestive route as a gummy, which throws away the main advantage the format has.
The five ranges on this shelf
Orange County holds the ladder, Vitality owns sprays, EndoFlo and Euphoria are flavour and percentage led, and Eco-CBD contributes the only paste.
A brand-owned site can tell you why its own oil is the best oil. It cannot tell you which of five brands fits how you actually take it. We stock all five, so here they are next to each other, and below the hand-written table is a live one read from the shelf.
Orange County dominates the aisle on range, holding every bottle size from 10ml to 100ml and every strength from 500mg upwards. Vitality owns the delivery-method end, with the only sprays and dual applicators. EndoFlo and Euphoria are flavour and percentage led. Eco-CBD contributes the only paste.

Several strengths come flavoured. Start here if you expect to move up over time. |
| Vitality CBD | Listed on each product page | 30ml | Isolate | Drops, oral sprays and dual applicators in natural, lemon and berry. The only brand here that solves taking CBD away from home. |
| EndoFlo | Listed on each product page | Tinctures | Full spectrum | Flavour-led tinctures in lemon, peppermint and strawberry for people who cannot get on with plain hemp. |
| Euphoria | 10 percent and 20 percent, plus a 10,000mg 30ml | 10ml, 30ml | Full spectrum on two lines, H4CBD on two | Percentage labelling and the strongest drop in the aisle. Two of its four lines are H4CBD, which is not CBD. Read the next section. |

Full spectrum, broad spectrum, isolate, and the 1mg question
Isolate is CBD alone, broad spectrum has the THC removed, full spectrum keeps it, and the law allows no more than 1mg of controlled cannabinoids in the container whatever its size.
All three extract types are on this shelf, and unlike the gummies aisle the split here genuinely changes what you are buying.
Isolate is CBD alone, and it is what people mean when they search for pure CBD oil: a bottle in which the only cannabinoid is CBD. Vitality's whole range is isolate, along with two Orange County 10ml bottles. It tastes of very little, so flavouring works cleanly, and it contains nothing else from the plant. Broad spectrum keeps the wider hemp compounds and has the THC taken out afterwards; Orange County's 500mg bottles are the broad-spectrum option here. Full spectrum keeps the plant profile as it is, including the trace THC, and it accounts for half of this aisle: the Orange County bottles from 1,000mg in 30ml upwards, both EndoFlo and Euphoria full-spectrum lines and the Eco-CBD paste. The three types are compared at length in broad spectrum against full spectrum CBD.
That distinction does most of its work in this aisle, because oil is where the containers get large. A percentage-based test, of the sort quoted on a great many CBD pages and repeated in Google's own summary for this search, would allow a 100ml bottle hundreds of times more THC than the law actually permits. The percentage figure is real, but it belongs to hemp cultivation licensing and describes the standing crop a farmer may grow. It has never been the test for what a shop may sell you.
Isolate and broad spectrum clear that bar comfortably, because the THC has been removed during manufacture. Full spectrum is the grade that deliberately retains it, and a 100ml bottle is the hardest case there is. Our position is plain: we require the batch certificate of analysis from our distributors for every full-spectrum line, and any container that cannot evidence 1mg or less does not stay on this site. If that is the part you care about, our lab reports page sets out what we ask for and what a certificate should show you, and is CBD legal in the UK does the arithmetic in full.
The second half of the legal picture is Novel Foods. Anything you swallow, oil included, sits inside the Food Standards Agency regime, and validated products appear on the FSA public list. The FSA also advises healthy adults to keep CBD from food supplements to 10mg a day, revised down from 70mg in October 2023. That is guidance rather than an instruction, but at 5mg in a drop it is worth knowing before you fill a pipette.
Not every bottle on this page is CBD
The Euphoria H4CBD oils are hydrogenated CBD, a different molecule, and are flagged rather than shelved among the CBD bottles.
Euphoria's 10 percent and 20 percent H4CBD oils are not CBD oil. It is sold because people report it as considerably stronger, and what is H4CBD explains the molecule. We list these lines because our buyer chose to, having been shown that argument in full, and we flag them rather than shelving them quietly among the CBD bottles.
The practical rule is the same as elsewhere on the site. Anything with H4 in the name is H4CBD. Everything else in this aisle is CBD. The rest of the H4CBD range sits in the hemp and hash aisle, where the copy sets the position out at length.
Taking it, and what to expect from the first bottle
Under the tongue for about a minute, start low, pick a flavour you can live with, and check the carrier oil.
Four things decide whether a first bottle gets finished. None of them is the strength.
Under the tongue, then wait
Put the drops under the tongue, hold for about a minute, then swallow. Most guidance in the UK lands between 60 and 90 seconds, and the point of the wait is that absorption through the mouth is faster than absorption through the stomach. Anything you swallow straight away behaves like an edible instead.
Start low and step slowly
A common approach is to begin at around 5mg, hold it there for several days, then move up in small increments rather than jumping strength. That is why the drop conversion above matters: at 5mg in a drop, one drop is a starting amount, and at 16.7mg in a drop it is not.
Take the flavour seriously
Unflavoured full-spectrum extract tastes strongly of hemp, and people who dislike it tend to stop taking it. The flavoured Orange County bottles, EndoFlo's lemon, peppermint and strawberry tinctures, or Vitality's lemon and berry are all sensible first purchases. Vitality's natural is the plain option if you would rather have no flavouring at all.
Check the carrier
Most drops on this shelf are suspended in MCT, coconut-derived and neutral. It is worth checking the ingredients panel if you have a coconut allergy, since MCT is close to universal in this category.
When oil is the wrong choice
Oil is the format we would recommend to most people most of the time. It is still wrong for plenty of them, and saying so is more useful than another paragraph about wellness journeys.
Under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding: none of this is for you. If you take prescription medication, speak to a GP or pharmacist first, because CBD is processed by the same liver enzymes as a number of common drugs.
Not for you if
- You will not do the routine. A dropper under the tongue for a minute, twice a day, is a habit, and a bottle that lives in a cupboard does nothing. CBD gummies ask nothing of you beyond eating a sweet
- You need it discreet and quick. Drops are the wrong tool and a spray is the compromise; if even that is too much, chewing gum and mints in the CBD sweets aisle are absorbed in the mouth without any of the theatre
- You cannot tolerate the taste of hemp. Do not buy unflavoured full spectrum as a first bottle on the theory that you will get used to it. Most people do not
- Your workplace tests for drugs. The conservative choice here is an isolate line, and half the shelf is full spectrum. Nobody can promise you a test result
- You want the effect people describe from H4CBD rather than from CBD. That is not CBD oil; the hemp and hash aisle is the honest place to read what those products are
Questions people ask
How many milligrams of CBD are in one drop?
Divide the total on the label by roughly 200 for a 10ml bottle, 600 for a 30ml, or 2,000 for a 100ml, since a pipette drop is about 0.05ml. A 1,000mg 10ml bottle therefore gives about 5mg in a drop. Drop size shifts a little with how thick the oil is, so the figure is a comparison tool rather than a measured dose.
Is a 30ml bottle stronger than a 10ml bottle of the same total?
No, it is weaker in the hand. The same total spread through three times as much liquid gives roughly a third as much CBD in each drop. Orange County sells 500mg in both sizes, and the 10ml version is about 2.5mg a drop against about 0.8mg for the 30ml. The larger bottle is a longer-running supply of a gentler oil.
What does 10 percent CBD oil mean in milligrams?
Around 100mg of CBD per millilitre, so a 10 percent 10ml bottle holds roughly 1,000mg and a 10 percent 30ml holds roughly 3,000mg. Both work out near 5mg in a drop. Percentage and milligram labelling describe the same thing, which is why converting one to the other is the only way to compare brands that label differently.
How long should CBD oil be held under the tongue?
About a minute, with most UK guidance landing between 60 and 90 seconds. Holding it there lets the oil absorb through the membrane under the tongue rather than going through the stomach. Swallow it straight down and it behaves like an edible, which is slower and defeats the reason for choosing drops in the first place.
Should I choose oil drops or an oral spray?
Drops if you want fine control and you take it at home; a spray if you want it in a bag and used without a mirror. A pump delivers a fixed amount, which is easier but less adjustable. Vitality's dual applicators include both formats together, which is a reasonable answer if you genuinely need each in different settings.
Does full spectrum oil in a large bottle stay inside the UK legal limit?
It has to, and the limit is the whole container rather than the drop. A product may hold no more than 1mg of controlled cannabinoids per container regardless of its size, so a 100ml full-spectrum bottle is held to exactly the same figure as a 10ml one. We require the batch certificate from our distributors on every full-spectrum line for that reason.
Is CBD paste different from CBD oil?
Yes, mainly in concentration and how you handle it. Paste is a thick extract dispensed from a syringe rather than a pipette, so it is harder to portion in small steps and easier to take too much of. It suits people who already know the amount that works for them. Anyone starting out should buy drops.
Which strength should a first bottle be?
Something that puts a single drop near 5mg, which on this shelf means a 500mg or 1,000mg 10ml bottle or a 1,000mg to 1,500mg 30ml. That gives you room to step up a drop at a time without jumping. The Food Standards Agency advises healthy adults to stay at or below 10mg a day from supplements, so there is no case for starting at the top of the range.
Can CBD oil be put in food or a drink?
It can, but you lose the reason for buying it. Stirred into a coffee, oil is digested rather than absorbed under the tongue, so it acts more slowly and a proportion is processed by the liver before it circulates. If you would rather take CBD with food, the edibles and drinks aisles are made for it and are easier to portion.
